Donald Trump Offers Immunity to IRGC and Iranian Forces After Strikes

President Donald Trump said Saturday he is offering immunity to members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), as well as the country’s military and police forces, following the joint U.S.-Israeli assault earlier in the day.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump claimed some within Iran’s security forces “no longer want to fight” and are seeking protection. “Now they can have Immunity, later they only get Death!” he wrote, while also confirming the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

He added that he hopes the IRGC and police will “peacefully merge with the Iranian Patriots” to rebuild the country, suggesting regime change is now underway.

“Operation Epic Fury” Targets IRGC Infrastructure

The joint U.S.-Israeli campaign — dubbed “Operation Epic Fury” — struck IRGC command and control facilities, ballistic missile and drone launch sites, military airfields and air defense systems.

According to the United States Central Command (Centcom), operations began at 1:15 a.m. EST. Trump announced the assault roughly an hour later in a video message, saying the bombing campaign could continue “uninterrupted” for a week or “as long as necessary” to achieve peace.

The Israel Defense Forces said it struck more than 500 targets. Israeli officials described it as the country’s longest military flyover, involving more than 200 aircraft targeting missile sites and IRGC air defenses across western and central Iran.

Mounting Casualties and School Strike Investigation

Iran’s Red Crescent reported more than 200 people killed and approximately 750 injured in the strikes, according to state media.

Centcom said it is reviewing reports that a strike hit a girls’ school in southern Iran, where Iranian officials claim more than 80 students were killed. The incident has intensified international scrutiny of the operation.

Iran Retaliates Across the Gulf

Iran launched drones and ballistic missiles in retaliation, striking Israel and targeting sites in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. Each country warned it would respond if further threatened, raising fears of a wider regional war.

Congress Divided Over War Powers

The strikes have drawn sharp reactions on Capitol Hill. Many Republican lawmakers praised the operation, while Democrats condemned it and pushed for a vote to limit the president’s war powers.

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) co-sponsored a war powers resolution with Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), with Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) also backing the effort. Davidson questioned whether Congress would be allowed a vote and pressed the administration to clearly define its mission.

With immunity offers extended to Iranian forces, regime change openly discussed and retaliatory strikes spreading across the Middle East, the confrontation shows no immediate signs of de-escalation.
