Renewal of 5 Year Car/MC license - What Document Will I Need?

Featured Replies

I've completed the online training and have printed off the QR codes for the car and motorcycle training.

What other documents will I need and how many copies? (Fyi - I've got a Yellow Book and Pink Card)

You need to tell us what Department Of Land Transportation office you will be using

but I'm pretty sure you will need a medical certificate your passport with long term visa/extension if you want a 5 year licence take your old licence/s and some cash money as they may not except digital payments.

Like the previous poster said, where you go is important.

In Chiang Rai, they didn't require a medical certificate but wanted a COR.

Lamphun - low volume office. I'll just do a walk-in.

I've got:
Passport
Yellow book and pink card (I used these 5 years ago at the Lamphun DLT)
Two original medical certificates (dated last week)
Car and motorcycle train QR codes (dated last week)

Old car and motorcycle licenses

Wondering how many copies they'll need for each original for each license??? Anything else I'm missing

I would take 2 copies but they may well have a copy shop at or near the DLT

other than that I think you should be set to go..saying that they may give you a date to come back if they are busy though you say its a low traffic office its something that might happen.

good luck.

Just renewed car and bike licences this morning at our local DLT office in Phon, KK province.

Gave old licences plus 2 copies each of yellow book, passport inc. current extension of stay, doctor's certificate and DLT eLearning QR codes. Completed in 40 minutes. They still had video sessions for those without the QRs - which seemed to be most of the applicants this morning - but I didn't need to watch. Altogether, a very efficient process.

Scanned to pay - although that wasn't made obvious until I specifically asked about it. Paid for bike and car licences separately.

When I renewed 5 years ago, I was told that, if they put Yellow Book/Pink Card ID number on the licence, it would only be valid in the local vicinity. This time, I gave YB/PC number AND passport number. They chose to use the YB/PC number and told me it was now valid for use countrywide - a sensible move.

The best way to know is: you go to the DLT end you ask it there.

It can be different from office to office: TIT.

The residence certificate from immigration

If you are doing car and bike licenses do you need two COR and two medical certs or can you have originals and copies? I was at my local immigration getting a COR yesterday and they were asking if it was for a car or bike licence. They were going to state which licence on the document. In the end they agreed to just put licence renewal without specifying vehicle type. I am hoping that the DLT will accept the original and a copy.

When did you last renew? I renewed mine in February in Chiang Rai. Since I renewed both my car and motorcycle license I needed 2 originals of the medical certificate and the COR. They would not accept the yellow book. I also had evidence that I completed both online courses and copies of my passport information page and my latest visa extension stamp.

My previous license expired on the 22nd (my birthday) and I renewed on the 23rd so my 5 year license is good for 6 years. It expires on 22 Feb 2032. It expires 5 years from your next birthday

They will want to see the passport you used previously even if it's expired, plus the current one.

Ok, so they must have changed the requirement for the health certificate.
