The whole vibe of the city is not of a normal city at all.

There's music blaring from some of the bars at 9 AM like it's party time 24/7.

It's unhealthy to live in such a place.

A guy may start off being whatever, but living there for years makes it worse. You lose sense of normalcy.

However Pattaya is still the cheapest beach city where you can rest your eyes on the sea from a decent prices hotel or appartments. Good nightlife and restaurants as well live scene, and I do not mean soi 6 or agogo's but decent night life. Just to crowded during high season unfortunate

Is it really cheaper than Hua Hin? When I looked at hotel prices it was not. Maybe they have cheaper restaurants. Hua Hin has better beaches.

Marriage isn't inherently a problem, but when you are surrounded by a bunch of other married couples as I did growing up in a large family, the family obligations and societal expectations get completely out of control.

You have no more time for yourself, to develop your own interests, or even just to think about anything other than maintaining appearances at the next social gathering.

Not to mention many married couples sit around playing "keeping up with the Joneses" with other married couples.

And most social gatherings are superficial fakery.

It's all very exhausting.

It is years ago I stopped swimming at the beach in Hua Hin, yes, for Sea view Pattaya and Jomtien is cheaper, but honestly I haven't been back to Pattaya for longer stays for many years, so I Have to rely on websites comparison prices, and I see the gap getting closer.

I might get settled just out of decency and my upbringing, but in reality with this "alternative lifestyle" there is no need for marriage unless you want to have kids and raise a family.

What Pattaya is is essentially an "alternative lifestyle" that eliminates the need for marriage. But a lot women in this trade also are tired of that lifestyle and want out to a more traditional lifestyle.

Some people do both -- get married and then go to Pattaya for a side hustle.

I wouldn't want to live in Pattaya if I was raising a family. Way too many options to cheat and stray from the marriage. But some people want that.

Probably best to just pick one lifestyle and live with your decision and stop obsessing about belittling other people's lifestyle because there are a lot of complications and monetary commitments with marriage.

If I was single, it would cost a lot more for companionship / sex, than being married. My monthly budget is ~30k, and socializing, especially if going the P4P route, would be a lot more than that, just for dining out and alcohol

If socializing like most people, and wanting to have sex a few times a week. Although when single here, TH, I didn't have a problem dating gals, though lots of short lived relationships, if not just a one nighters. No P4P, for myself, as really no need to pay.

TH is a great place to be single, and no need for P4P, unless just wanting convenience. Not for me, as seems really boring. Spending time and waking up next to someone is more me. There are a number of people in my hometown in the UK who are rude and not very smart.

Yesterday as I was departing BKK, there was a 70yr or so male Brit in a Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya sweatshirt, being led away from the gate by Thai airport ground staff bawling like a child. He was holding a pillow and some other things.

"but I have no money", inbetween sobs. I'm guessing he was homeless person just trying to sleep in the airport. Sad state.
