MAGA meltdown. Trump ‘staged attack’ claim sparks war

A fierce online feud has erupted inside the MAGA movement after a prominent conservative commentator suggested Donald Trump’s 2024 assassination attempt might have been staged.

The claim — once mostly confined to fringe left-wing conspiracy circles — has now spilled into right-wing media spaces, triggering a bitter clash among Trump supporters and conservative influencers.

At the center of the controversy is the shooting incident that occurred during a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania during the 2024 presidential race.

The moment stunned the nation at the time. Now, however, some conservative voices are openly questioning what really happened that day.

One of the most prominent figures fueling the debate is far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos.

In a post on X, Yiannopoulos admitted he had begun to doubt the official account of the shooting.

“I hate myself for thinking it but dude that s——t wasn't real,” he wrote in response to another skeptical user.

“There was no assassination attempt. It didn't happen. I'm sorry it just didn't.”

The conspiracy theory itself is not new. For months it circulated largely among fringe critics of Donald Trump.

Supporters of the theory point to several details they consider suspicious.

They highlight the lack of a visible scar on Trump’s ear after the shooting.

They also question how Trump was able to defiantly raise his fist moments after the attack.

Another point raised is that the alleged gunman had previously supported Trump politically.

Critics of the official narrative claim these details suggest the attack may have been staged to boost Trump’s political standing during a high-stakes election. Recently, however, those suspicions have begun appearing inside conservative circles.

Some supporters who have grown frustrated with Trump’s decisions during his second presidential term are now raising doubts publicly.

Posts questioning the incident have spread rapidly across social media. One anti-Trump Republican user on X demanded a fresh investigation.

“As we learn more about the scam filled life of Donald Trump, why isn't there a serious investigation into the staged ‘assassination’ attempt in Butler, PA?” the user wrote.

They added that journalists should pursue the issue because “America deserves the truth.”

Another conservative voice entering the debate was Hannah Cox, a libertarian-leaning commentator. After watching footage from the rally again, she questioned how calmly some audience members appeared to react.

“Look at the people behind him and their reactions,” she wrote.

“No one on earth would sit there like that after a public shooting broke out.”

But those claims have sparked a fierce backlash from other conservatives determined to defend Trump and the official account of events.Among the critics pushing back was Jeremy Carl, a senior fellow at the Claremont Institute.

Responding directly to Cox’s comments, he dismissed the theory and attacked its supporters.

“These grifters and clowns can’t leave the scenes fast enough for me,” Carl wrote.

Another user, posting under the name “Brick Suit,” attempted to shut down the conspiracy theory by sharing footage filmed from the front row of the Butler rally.

The video was meant to show the chaos of the moment and challenge claims that the attack had been staged.

The footage even caught the attention of the Trump administration’s communications team.

Trump’s White House communications director reposted the clip while defending the official account of the incident.

“For those of us who were there with POTUS at Butler, anyone saying it was staged truly needs to have their heads checked out because they have no sense of reality,” the official wrote.

The clash highlights growing fractures inside parts of the conservative movement. For now, the debate shows no sign of fading.

With social media continuing to amplify both sides of the argument, the controversy surrounding the Butler rally incident may remain a flashpoint among Trump supporters and critics alike.

MAGA infighting ignites over accusation Trump staged assassination

I can now believe it. I don't discount Trump's ability to do virtually anything.

I does now look very suspicious especially as the first thing he did after gaining office again was a 180 degree u turn and straight to MIGA not MAGA ....the perfect Manchurian candidate.
