Eating sardines for 5 days test

What if I told you that one of the most powerful, nutrient-dense foods on the planet costs less than $2 a can? And what if eating this food for just five days could dramatically reset your body, sharpen your mind, and put you back in the driver’s seat of your health? We’re talking about sardines. A recent clinical trial out of Barcelona revealed a huge scientific discovery: just adding two cans of sardines per week slashed diabetic risk from 37% down to 8%. That’s incredible. But it got me thinking… what would happen if you took it a step further and ate only sardines for five straight days? Let’s dive into this fascinating experiment and explore the day-by-day transformation your body could experience.

Purely unscientific but when Dad retired at age 58 he started eating sardines at least once a week. He lived to just shy of his 95th birthday, still sharp as a tack.

With an option of pebble coating?

I rejected sardines years ago because of the smelly after burps.

I have seen so much in the press about health benefits so I decided to give them another go.

Now, they seem to give me diarrhea and that’s after trying different brands.

When I googled it, I found out that tinned sardines are high in histamines and that can give some people diarrhea.

Looks like it’s true of all tinned fish.

Sardines can also contribute towards the onset of gout. A qualified dietician, as opposed to a YouTube "dietician", gave me that advice when I got gout a few years ago. I have maybe one can per month now as there are of course a lot of good stuff in a can.

@John49 I'm lucky, they don't have that effect on me.

And don't forget brain worms from tuna.

You better hope that you have you don't have gout, because it is one of the worst foods for anybody with a tendency towards gout.

There's so much nonsense online these days from people highly unqualified, one has to be incredibly judicious when taking this kind of advice.

Between the sodium levels and the purine levels, 5 days of sardines could put a lot of people in the hospital.

Thailand has a good number of healthy fatty fishes. Sardines (ปลาหลังเขียว) are actually caught in large number and canned in Thailand. I find, they are irritatingly bony when eaten fresh; sardine fish soup (or even soup just from their heads) is good though, an opinion that seemingly is not shared by most foreigners I know, so YMMV.

What the Thais absolutely love, is ปลาทู (Short Mackerel); I personally find them disgusting in dried state, but to each their own.

Even more fatty/healthy are ปลาซาบะ (Blue Mackerel); they are unbelievably tasty when they are coming sizzling from the grill, they are meaty while not being expensive, fish bones are of a decent size and easily removed, and therefore would be my preferred go-to fatty fish in Thailand. I am sure you can get them in many places here, but well known on Phuket would be the beach restaurants on Rawai Beach, where you can order the fish right from the grill (and, hint: I have never known a girl not to like them, too).

No, I allowed myself a joke with this very important topic.

My mum always said they come from legacy media... I guess my mum was not hundred percent correct?

Rather a contradiction. Fresh...Canned?

Then it would be better to keep those sort of ''jokes'' to yourself please.

You make yourself sound stupid.

Never eaten fish in my life.....so that would be a nightmare.

Thank you very much for your kind comment, as it shows me that there are also intelligent people here. And of course you're right, iam not!

ME? INTELLIGENT? Haha.

60 years on the road playing bass guitar, Man City fan, and a Thai Mrs! 555. Cheers.

Problem is they have been sitting in those cans up to 3-4 years .

Yea but the taste is not good once a week I can tolerate

what's your affordable go-to brand of canned sardines in Bangkok?

I tried the local Sumaco brand at local supermarkets. The version in olive oil is not good - bad quality oil and the fish has rubbery texture. The version in tomato sauce is actually more edible. Saw the Connetable brand sold there too, which would be guaranteed top quality, but at over $5 a can it's a pass for me.

I LOVE sardines, the canned type.

But, I don't know where to buy them.

When i was young, I could eat a ton of these.....

image.png

However, I would imagine that the price is now through the roof.

Right?

Wrong?

I could dig a can a day, for sure.

image.png

But, as I suspected: OUT OF STOCK

This world is HUGELY OVERPOPULATED with Humans.

Over 8.5 Billion fools on the planet, these days.

So, if you want good fish, then you must pay now, before it goes completely extinct.

===================

I am very picky about my sardines.

I must have good quality, for example.....this species.....

I would be OK with this brand, too...

Although, this might not even be a brand.

But, the fish looks OK to me.

I would not touch sardines in tomato sauce, or anything like that, with a 10-foot fishing pole.

But, where to buy in Thailand?

Another New York Times Sardine article...

Hopefully, there is no need to smuggle them in.

Just be prepared to pay about USD9.00 per tin.

They little bugger don't come cheap.

Living on this overpopulated planet has become a true hell, from a natural resources perspective.

So, who wants to live longer, anyway.

Sardines just taste good.

Looks good, but at that price it's an occasional treat, not a regular staple. I can get good quality canned sardines between $2-3 per can in the US. I'm looking for the same price range in Thailand.

it would be my last choice too. But with the inexpensive Sumaco brand I mentioned, the ones in tomato sauce are edible, compared to their olive oil version, which I found off-putting. I'm buying them while I'm still looking for a decent olive oil version here.
