Honestly now, with such die-hard loyalists as Tucker Carlson and Megan Kelly turning on him, how can ANYONE continue to defend that monster?

Your post is irrational as before. Inflation affects local value the most. In Thailand you get more baht and Thai inflation is lower.

And you seem to be utterly oblivious to the effect that the current mideast situation has on the value various currencies.

Below is a graph of how the dollar has performed against the baht. Do you notice how it kept on declining until february 16? Does that tell you anything? Do I really have to fill in the blanks about traders fearing the unequal consequences of Trump's Iranian excursion? That in fact, those fears have been realized?

Why as a non-American do you care abou that?

I doubt you finished high school. Higher western inflation vs low Thai inflation boosts the farang dollars.

All your posts are illogical.

Exactly. The dollar was falling but as the prospect of war grew more likely and more imminent, the Thai currency fell because the effects of a mideast war would hit it harder than it would the USA.

War leads to money inflow into the US due to Petro dollar and interest rate cycle. So two factors boosted it.

So, your position is that inflation boosts the value of a currency. And that higher interest rates will boost the value of a currency further? It is to laugh.

It is funny you never read this before. Ask AI. It will tell you what is in every book on economics

What war?

According to your US MAGA comrades the US has never been at war since WW11!

OK. So war was good for the American economy, or at least less harmful, and it was bad for Thailand. So, given that's the situation, how would currency traders tend to bet?

Crying about inflation, exchange rate, fed / interest, and what ever else is a bit of wasted brain cells and stress for some.

Why ... because you have absolutely 'NO CONTROL' of any of the those. NOTHING you think you can do, or do will change any of those numbers.

Get back to enjoying life, as someone stated recently. 130 replies, and nothing you've done, has changed any of those numbers. Just your BP 😄 and gave me a chuckle.

According to this guy, US oil exports are at an all-time high of 5 million barrels a day. Nobody saw this coming.

And neither is anyone else.

Ask AI what Thai inflation is. Ask AI what the 2026 forecasts are. Good luck.

No it won't. It will tell you that interest rates are raised to reduce inflation. If inflation at 3% so good for the value of the dollar, then inflation at 1000% should be even better, right. All other factors being equal, higher relative inflation will lower the value of a currency.

I can tell you never read any books on the subject. Ask Ai to explain 1st world inflation vs 3rd world inflation.

Ive got better things to do.

There are arguments for and against a strong dollar. I am strong dollar guy, but I think Trump is a weak dollar guy.

As I highlighted on the graph, it's not exceptional. 5.17 in April 2024.

First, you might want to acquaint yourself with certain events currently underway in the middle east. You might be surprised to learn that such events might possibly be having a negative effect on the Thai economy and that its short to medium term prospects don't look so good. And then you might want to inquire about what kind of effect that could have on the value of its currency.

Great news for the dollar and shareholders in big oil. Not so great for most Americans.

Maybe so but overall AI predicts a weaker baht this year. Sluggish economy, rate cut and low inflation. Another 5 to 10% fall in the baht possible.

Good news and goodnight.

What did I make up? Modest inflation increases rates and attracts money. Runaway inflation results in loss of confidence in the currency. Any economics book or AI program will tell you this. Please educate yourself. You are an old man but don't know this stuff? Amazing.

Quick summary from AI

Runaway inflation—often escalating into hyperinflation—creates a "leaking bucket" effect for an economy. When a currency loses value rapidly, both domestic citizens and foreign investors scramble to move their wealth into more stable "hard" currencies (like the USD or Euro) or offshore assets.

This phenomenon, known as capital flight,

When inflation begins to rise modestly (or stays near a healthy target), it signals to the market that the central bank is likely to increase interest rates to keep the economy from overheating.

  • Higher Yields: Higher interest rates offer better returns for investors holding assets in that currency (like government bonds).

  • Inflow of Capital: Global investors move their capital into that country to capture those higher yields, increasing demand for the local currency and driving up its value.
