Yesterday there was a sign displayed in the bus that the fare had risen to 15 baht. I paid with a 20 baht note and received my change.

That's good.

Great now we will get to sit and wait as cheapo falangs try and argue with drivers that they should only pay 15 never 20. I would be perfectly fine with 20 baht for falangs and 10 baht for thais...of

I'm struggling to see how this is a similar situation. You think people will be searching out 10bt busses "elsewhere"?

Its mostly the Indians who hold up the baht buses by trying to haggle with the driver for a group discount...While everyone else on the baht bus sits there and waits..

No, it would be the Banglamung Baht Bus Cooperative, who I remember being very vocal, when the likes of Bolt & Grab Taxis appeared. This fare rise, nothing.

No, they are effectively the same group as the Pattaya Cooperative who issued the poster with the info. Their spokesman on TV news said they have to pass it up the chain for ultimate approval.

Today I walked to my local market, I bought 2 large pineapples and a large bunch of bananas, throw in one serve of chicken and vegetable soup. The total cost was 135 baht. Even a small bar where the locals meet a large bottle of Thai beer is 60 baht, Even the osmosis drinking water is only 4 baht to fill a large container, Pattaya is 5 baht.

In a tourist area(Jomtien): around 20 baht each for large pineapples. One large hand of bananas, perhaps 45 baht. Chicken and vegetable soup, from 35 baht. Total: 120 baht

3 baht to fill a 6lt water bottle, for the purpose of cooking.

I suspect to begin with 5 baht change will be given as they are happy with the 50% increase but that will stop after a while

Multiple news sources are wrong or you are wrong? I suspect the latter.

Here are a couple of news reports where the spokesman for the local drivers group is quoted saying they had submitted a request to the Chonburi Provincial Transport Office for an increase.
