Oh Dear.

Got a livewire here.🙃🙃

Pattaya is one of the largest cities in Thailand and the price has gone from 10 baht in 1999 to 2026.

Oh dear we have a cheapskate.

What has not changed in price 100% in 27 years? Not much, tvs and gadgets. Most other things have gone up 100% or more.

The oil price shock pushed it up. 5 baht more oh shock horror! How can we survive? One less beer a week!

Bangkok has 500 baht gym sessions and 300 baht haircuts.

Great now we will get to sit and wait as cheapo falangs try and argue with drivers that they should only pay 15 never 20. I would be perfectly fine with 20 baht for falangs and 10 baht for thais...of

I'm struggling to see how this is a similar situation. You think people will be searching out 10bt busses "elsewhere"?

Its mostly the Indians who hold up the baht buses by trying to haggle with the driver for a group discount...While everyone else on the baht bus sits there and waits..

Over 27 years is a few percent a year.

That's not how inflation works

About the 8 or 10th largest depending on what AI/Google say!

Thai prices stay the same for 10 years then go up. They hurt the Thais more than foreigners. 5 baht is nothing to a foreigner.

The thought of riding baht buses in Pattaya is really depressing. Sorry folks.

I guess if you paid off the driver for a solo ride it would be adequate. Sitting next to riff raff doesn't seem to appealing.

I would be perfectly fine with 20 baht for falangs and 10 baht for thais...of course that will send the dual pricing what a rip off brigade into hissy fits of how dare you require me to pay more than Thais many of whom make a fraction of what I spend on beer every day.

30 baht for farangs be fair. That is less than 1 USD. If they can afford beer they can afford 30 baht.

Used one songthaew in 5 years. Grab is so cheap no need. I wonder how the riff raff afford beers and prostitutes if 5 baht upsets them. The math does not add up.

Sometimes hot tourists, later on pickpocket LBs avoid them

27 years and only 10 baht increase is really not that much. Kebab sticks went from 5 to 10 baht. The fuel price would have been half price in 1999. Seems fair enough.

Why did you clip my post? What I said was:

"For some that takes the BB every day, a B10 increase is B20 a day, or B600 a month. Sure, it's not much, but it's a day's pay for some people.

That said, it was B10 when I got here in '99. Past time."

It hurts some but all price increases hurt some. Lots of nice cars in Thailand. Lots of well dressed Thais with nice phones too.

None of your replies made any sense.

Don't encourage dual pricing

I definitely think that’s too expensive for Thais. It should be posted clearly in Baht buses . People with families, older folk who live on a measly retirement, should not pay the same price as foreigners.

Effective April 10.

15 or 20 depending on distance whatever that means.

Short loop and a long loop so two prices. 20 baht for a long loop is cheap.

Thais get lots of cheap prices. Dual pricing is common.

All these people saying cheap Charley...yet these are the type pee their panties when flights go up....how about a 100% increase on everything you buy...not so good is it. No common sense, what about Thai families sending their kids to school. You only have to look at baht buses on Suk, no foreigners mostly Thais and with 3 kids that's gonna cost almost 1,500 baht extra per month....now, how about 600 baht for your 300 baht brekky, or 200 baht for your small beer. The only cheap Charlie's are the ones saying increase the price 👍

Please explain how a 5 baht fare increase generates a 1500 baht result.

Your worse case scenario of 3 children;

3kids X2 daily trips = 6 trips @ 5 baht = 30 baht/ day

Thai students have 18-20 days of scholl/month. Let's take 20 days

20 X30 baht - 600 baht.

When was the last price increase? Wasn't it 15 years ago? Even if it was 10, don't you think the sangthaew operators' expenses increased over the years? It's about time the price increased.

The foreigners should be encouraged to use public transit. It reduces traffic which benefits Thais.

It is also a pain in the butt to administer 2 prices. Some Asians can pass for Thais. They would be charged the Thai rate. The drivers don't needed the added burden of. differentiating between Thai and non Thai.

But the USD has risen 4% which more than offsets it. Thank you Trump.

Wrong as usual!

Thais pay the base price and non-Thais MAY have to pay the NON-Thai price.

Same as in many other countries!

Wrong as usual. Dual pricing is very common in Thailand. You live in a basement and never been to Thailand.

Bus prices in other countries are usually based on student, adult or elderly not race.
