Either I'm not smart on picking up on them, or you're not smart at making them.

I had to read your post like 3 times before I managed to even come to an incorrect assumption as to your point.

So let's assume that it is me who's being dense.... I'd welcome the opportunity to hear you elaborate on your subtle point.

Now, that's the bit you miss...... a subtle point never requires elabotation.

Great now we will get to sit and wait as cheapo falangs try and argue with drivers that they should only pay 15 never 20. I would be perfectly fine with 20 baht for falangs and 10 baht for thais...of

I'm struggling to see how this is a similar situation. You think people will be searching out 10bt busses "elsewhere"?

Its mostly the Indians who hold up the baht buses by trying to haggle with the driver for a group discount...While everyone else on the baht bus sits there and waits..

50% increase on a baht bus is a few baht of an increase

For somebody travelling to work and back 6 days a week it's 60bt a week, 260bt a month. It's not an insignificant amount.

The rest of your post I wholly agree with.

50% increase on a baht bus is a few baht of an increase. 50% increase on rent (or an air fare) is several thousand baht. Not really understanding the point of your comparison. Of course I get that it's harder for a local who has not got a big pension or salary to fall back on.

I've no issue with the baht bus increase, I'm lucky as I can afford, and I can see a reasonable excuse for the increase. It's hardly gouging. I don't fancy the idea of dual pricing, but ultimately it doesn't matter enough for me to moan about it.

I'd rather see a family that's struggling and then I cover their fare for them.

I might even stump up 1 baht to help a struggling group of Indian tourists who need to get discount... Ah, maybe not, I am Scottish after all...

For some that takes the BB every day, a B10 increase is B20 a day, or B600 a month. Sure, it's not much, but it's a day's pay for some people.

That said, it was B10 when I got here in '99. Past time.

An unclear point, such as your, however, does.

I was 100% certain that you'd be unable to explain yourself when challenged. I doubt even you know what you meant by your extremely vague comment, and now you're desperately hiding behind "subtly" in a vein attempt to stop yourself looking foolish.

...and you probably believe that..

Trot on...

I don't recon I'd have written it if I didn't believe it.

I have this subtle way of only saying things that I believe to be true.

Yeah, totally agree with your point. Is why, if culturally acceptable, I'd happily cover a Thai family's fare if I saw it was a struggle. If dual pricing was the best option then I wouldn't moan about that for exactly the reason you describe.

I nearly projectile vomited when I read the patronising and pretentious replies like you give a single flying f about poor Thais. If you actually cared, you wouldn’t be raw dogging your way through Pattaya you bunch of losers. If you feel so bad, instead of paying for sex next time, just donate to her poor family.

Unlikely for the routes within south Pattaya (Beach road, 2nd road, Soi Buakhao) as seen from above picture in English, Russian and Chinese.
More likely about the distance e.g. going further out to Naklua or Jomtien?

So people who thought a 50% increase was too much are likely to add another 100% on top to get a taxi?

they will think something like, Bolt 29 baht door to door or baht bus 20 baht, part of the way, some people will decide to get the Bolt

90 baht.

Agree with Peter.

That is a restaurant price, not a vendor.🙃🙃

27 years and only 10 baht increase is really not that much. Kebab sticks went from 5 to 10 baht. The fuel price would have been half price in 1999. Seems fair enough.

When I first hit Pattaya 26 years ago a box of Leo 630 ml beer was 350 baht.

Thailand inflation rate is 50-100% depending what they include, your kebab sticks, LBs and baht bus

Over 27 years is a few percent a year.
