Is retirement in Thailand a ticking time bomb?

I've seen his videos before. The guy is a clown. His balls have still not dropped and he is so dumb he can't pronounce baht. It is just clickbait crap to boost his income like most Youtubers. You can learn more from AI in 2 minutes than watching any of his crappy videos. Sadly none of the farang Youtubers based in Thailand are any good. The best ones are all Thai.

We really shouldn't be judgemental

Best you get started on the move. Have your kid's name put on chanoote, pack suitcases and go. That is if you're really serious.

Not just serious but definite. This has never been home, and isn't a good place for my daughter anyway. Moving around the world with a house full of things, finding a proper house rent to own, in the school district near my other daughter, her sister, isn't that easy. I have to get money for my house here first.

Many people learn much of what they know about anything from others videos, which is why it's always best to watch as many as possible, as well as reading up on a particular subject before you look at it as factual. Millions make opinions, and if many are saying the same things, it's more likely the truth, but not always.

AI is what others have put there, and can build more once it's in place, and is usually from a lot of sources also.

Some watch a video for a few minutes then judge, much like some do here, skimming and assuming, without fully reading all of what's written. Never works.

The visa rules can be googled or AIed. No need for videos. You could ask AI which visas in SEA have the most flexible visas. No need for opinions from Youtuber twots.

No. But he had "Elite" status.

He thought he was 1 percenter. The Elite. Best of the best. Top Gun.

You're probably thinking it is his fault and I agree. He bought a tourist visa for half a million 😄 🤣

Those visas are a scam. You could just fly to Malaysia and back and get 60 days or buy a yearly one in Cambodia.

Yes, but they don't smell as good as a woman.

This is why you needed to listen to the video before commenting, as it was more than about visas.

Why not? If you did not judge things you would eat anything and live anywhere. Do you really want some 35/40yo twot with no idea telling you have to live your life?

You don't need a house full of "things" they are just things. Pictures and small personal items for kid won't be hard to send.

And, how is selling the house coming along? Put your kid's name on title deed and go. Rent to own? Really? Isn't that a bit of a longshot at your age?

He is just repeating stories that have been told 10,000 times before. Never trust a woman. Never trust a foreign nation. These farang Youtubers are mostly awfully repetitive and boring. No imagination in there videos at all.

These things I've been collecting for decades, and are part of what I enjoy, so they're going with me. The only things I left behind were my guns and hunting equipment, with my daughter back home. You can get a rent to own way into your 70's, actually without a maximum age limit, and it will be left to my daughter when I pass. I'm soon to either make a deal with my ex for the house, go to court, where she would be reimbursing me, or selling it outright, which wouldn't be that easy.

Wow.

I haven't read this stuff for at least 6 months.

What happened Saturday night?

Too much drinkies?🙃🙃

Like many videos, there is some truth there, and that goes for all videos people put up, which many take as gospel. That's again why you listen to many, along with researching other ways, before you make a decision.

If he did not renews extensions then he was staying illegally and rightly kicked out.

This video suggests that it is.

I agree with the thesis though I don't necessarily agree there is bad intent in the policies.

I have been saying for decades that the problem with the Thailand retirement visa program is a complete lack of residency security.

Someone here 30 years has no more status than a new guy fresh off the plane.

To me, that doesn't seem morally right.

Yet, aware of all that, I stay, and so do countiess others who may or may not be as aware of this ticking time bomb.

The video discussed an elderly man who allowed his Thai wife to manage his finances. This was a dumb decision from the start. One should never trust anyone with their money. The man then complains about government agencies doing nothing to assist him despite the limited support provided to Thai citizens.

What resources does the government offer to single mothers? What help is available for elderly individuals? A Thai person once told me that the government does not care about its people. It is primarily the family that provides support, which is why local residents stepped in to help feed the man mentioned in the video. It seems unreasonable for the video's creator to expect the government to assist this elderly man when government support is often inadequate for the general population.

For anyone considering a move to Thailand, it’s important to have a plan for emergencies or unexpected situations.

Seems a very slow way to make decisions. Watch a bunch of stupid videos.

I think its is cute he reached out to the Aus embasy via social media... what he do, make a post on the Aus embassy FB page asking for asistance ?

The only ways a person learns after high school is reading, listening to teachers or watching videos. With all the bias out there, that's why it's best to use as much material as you can before you make a judgement about anything. Videos are made many times by professionals in any subject, and are easier than reading, although abridged.

Maybe put a bit of thought into this? He was sold a 5 year "Elite" membership that costs a lot of money. At the very least he should have gotten an email reminder for his super duper special Elite membership 😄 🤣 😂

That is one expensive Visa.

Thanks, but that isn't needed, as it's mostly about finding the right place to live, along with sending everything back in a boat and getting whatever i can for the house first. If it was easy, we would already be in Texas.

Yea, that was dumb if it’s true. All one needs to do is make a phone call.

He should sue the elite visa people.

Most Youtubers are not qualified to speak on any topic. The best ones are related to diet and exercise as they are at least based on facts.

Women stealing money from men is old news.

Those things are just things. I've lost enough things I thought were so important to me until you rationalize they're just things.

Yes, most videos are biased, exaggerations or outright lies, but some are based on facts and personal experience, which is why you listen to as many as possible on any particular subject before you make up your mind. The diet and exercise ones can also be wrong or right. People have been stealing money from men and women since money was invented.

Thay talk about Thai things, like travelling, eating, fuking......not about Falaaaang getting bent over.

The content is clickbait, but everything in it is 100% correct. To say otherwise you must be a deep tissue Thai bootlicker. And one thing even more pathetic than being a Farang youtuber is being a Thai bootlicker.

And if you want to lick those thai boots even deeper you should suggest he be sued for defamation.

Lick them boots and file the taxes!

You have to hedge your bets here, yep one day they could make it difficult to stay

For those who sold up in their home country and made a permanent move to Thailand and actually think of Thailand as their home. I'm sure many have done it and were successful but I'd wager they're in the minority.

it all boils down to "money?
