I would be grateful if anyone could give some guidance on the financial aspects of sponsorship and the thinking of ECOs at the British Embassy.

I have known my Thai GF almost four years and she has obtained a VV to the UK twice before with my “sponsorship”. When we applied previously, I was able to supply the required six months copy pay slips. Now, I am semi retired (not old enough for a pension) I do not claim any form of state ( or any other kind of) benefit , own my own home with no mortgage, have no debts and live off my investments.

I have about £150k invested in various stocks and bonds and live off partly drawing from the capital and partly from cashing in the growth aspect. My bank statements show credits from this and are never overdrawn. I also have a credit card which always shows the debit balance cleared quickly. If I need money, I can draw it from my investments. I can provide documentary proof of my funds.

As I pay for my GFs flights and she lives at my home when she is here, I have also visited her in Thailand twice this year. Any comments as to how the ECOs would view my “financial situation” as a sponsor having sufficient funds without being able to show a “regular income”(ie payslips) as I know that my GF would not qualify for VV in her own right.when we apply early next year for her next VV.

Thank you

I can't imagine any problems...

As far as I'm aware you have to have "sufficient funds" to support your gf on her trip...And you seem to have ample funds :D

Good luck and I hope she enjoys the trip :o

My 2nd visit visa application was turned down because the average balance in my private acc. was only about £600 and even showed £2000 a month being transfered in from my business acc.

I transfered £3000 into my private acc for the next application and we were successful. It appears to me that the ECO is only interested in available cash to support the visit, not the reserves you have which are not always immediatley available.
