I just watched a beautiful YouTube video of a mature aged (73) female farang who runs a business

She owns a resort on koh Chang called 'Journeys ENd

Apparently she used to run a bar in Pattaya 10 years ago

She seems a tough old cookie , tough old bird ..oh dear don't be sexist

,married twice in England drove a cab ,married to a New Zealander, then the son was born in Australia

then got divorced bought a bar in Pattaya , was then hounded out by male bar owners then bought a resort in Koh Chang

There isn't many older / mature aged female business owners on Thailand especially running bars

Do you know any?

I did recall a business called Yorkies pies in Pattaya many moons ago that had a older lady farang running it , of course she would be gone by now

I have about half a dozen old western women friends on whatsapp and the same again on Line

Like me, they are Thai culture fans, and they like the low cost of living. Crafting and yoga are big draws for them. Chiang Mai has the biggest concentration.

Initially, her and her husband ran the business from Jomtien Beach road.

Long time ago they moved shop on Chayapruek, just before the Sukhumvit intersection.

I heard that her husband died a few years ago and she still runs the business.

The thing that I like about the older female expats is, they don't yell or swell and they like it like hell.

Unless the farang women are married to Thais, I don't see how they could be operating businesses in Thailand. Most farangs 'running' business here use Thai nominees who are little more than signatures on a form. They are 'supposed' to have, and be able to prove they have, a significant financial inveestment in the business to 'prove' it is a legitiamte Thai business, then I guess the farang gets a workpermit to be the operator and junior partner. So identifying these people could lead to trouble for them.

Yes, several mature aged female both bar- and business owners.

And also numerous mature aged female foreigners both owning and running business where I live. Not to forget all the matured foreign ladies that just enjoy their life in 'paradise', they even group together — 'Sisters of Samui — for charity and their monthly gourmet lunch...

There's truth to this. I heard once that most likely marriages to succeed are 3rd cousins, which makes sense to me.

Pat's Pies was one I remember in the past, a Scots lady married to a Thai. From memory she started on 3rd road and moved to one of the Soi's, 4 or 5 ,off Beach Road when she got more popular.

The lady in Pattaya that has the cider importation business from the UK. I certainly thank her for her business acumen and efforts.

Why not swerve Pattaya next trip Georgie and head to Koh Chang, you never know your luck she might take pity on you.

There's a huge number of farang running businesses. Doing the books managing etc. They run them for this that own the business. In some cases they get free room.
