July 2Jul 2 A 33-year-old British man was found dead with multiple stab wounds inside a house in Pattaya on the morning of 2 July 2026, while his 20-year-old British girlfriend was taken into police custody for questioning. Officers said they believe she was involved in the incident, although she denied killing him and claimed she could not remember what happened.Get today's headlines by email Police were called at 10.30am to a single-storey house on Pornprapanimit Road (Soi Siam Country Club) in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. Investigators found the body of Thomas David Powell in the shower area of the bathroom, with a pillow supporting his neck and a towel covering his body. He had suffered two stab wounds to his back and ribs, three to the front of his torso and one to his left hand. A knife found in the sink appeared to have been washed clean, leading investigators to suspect an attempt had been made to remove fingerprints and other evidence.Inside the property, officers found Isabel Violet Carreras, 20, also a British national and the victim’s girlfriend. Police described her as appearing dazed, confused and giving inconsistent answers, at times crying and appearing detached from her surroundings. The house showed signs of a struggle, with bloodstains in several rooms and belongings scattered throughout. Investigators also found cannabis-smoking equipment, and officers reported a strong smell of cannabis inside the property.Police said the couple had been together for about two years and planned to build a future together in Thailand. The woman told investigators they had gone to look at engagement rings before returning home and smoking cannabis together. She claimed she could not remember the events that followed and said the couple regularly used cannabis together.Video recorded as officers entered the property showed police asking the woman, “You kill him?” She replied, “Why kill him?” and later answered, “No.” In the same footage, she claimed the victim had been under severe stress, taken about eight tablets and that the pair had been playing with knives. She alleged he accidentally cut his face and hand before saying, “Hope I don’t wake up in the morning,” and, “If I stab myself in the neck, everything will be over,” before claiming he injured himself despite her attempts to stop him.Police said they did not believe her account because of inconsistencies between her statement, the pattern of the victim’s injuries and physical evidence at the scene. Investigators also cited CCTV footage which reportedly showed the victim running from the house while crying out in pain. Officers said only the couple were inside the house at the time of the incident. As rescue workers removed Powell’s body, the couple’s dog, which had been confined in a cage outside, watched as its owner was taken away. The woman was allowed to say goodbye to the dog before being escorted away by police. The body has been sent for a full post-mortem examination while forensic officers continue collecting evidence. Police are conducting further interviews and said charges will be filed once all available evidence has been reviewed.Pictures courtesy of แจ็ค โพธิ์แดงJoin the discussion? Already a member? July 2Jul 2 I'm gonna get shot down for this but never mind, cannabis can bring on paranoia, and finally psychosis.Who remembers the old phrase:'Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you'?I've experienced paranoia years ago on the strong stuff, and I gather the stuff nowadays is much more potent.Recently I've seen temporary psychosis with the son of a close friend, scary stuff indeed.I'm not saying it's the definite cause of this murder but it could be a factor.
July 2Jul 2 It would be informative to know the source of the funds to allow such a lifestyle for a 33-year-old and a 20-year-old pair of Brits. Perhaps he sold his tech start-up for a few million. 🤔The police love these cases, farang on farang. Mega pay day. She'll be back in the UK for Christmas and the Pattaya police will be significantly better off. Case closed. We will hear very little more, if anything, after a few days. By the way, what happened to the acid thrower on Arunothai Soi 2?
July 2Jul 2 I'm gonna get shot down for this but never mind, cannabis can bring on paranoia, and finally psychosis.Who remembers the old phrase:'Just because you're paranoid, it doesn't mean they're not out to get you'?According to Thairath, that's the business he's in... He "owned" a large cannabis farm.https://en.thairath.co.th/news/crime/2943582So many questions...
July 2Jul 2 That has got to be one of the strangest cases of suicide on record. Stabbed in the backs stabbed in the front. Then walked to the kitchen and washed the knife, back to the bathroom got a pillow and a towel. Now if after all that he had drove to a high rise hotel rented a room and jumped.. Then maybe.
July 2Jul 2 Author UPDATEBritish Businessman Stabbed at Pattaya HomePictures courtesy of ThaiRathA 34-year-old British businessman has been found dead with a stab wound inside a rented home in Bang Lamung, Chon Buri, with police preparing to charge his British girlfriend with murder after finding what they described as several inconsistencies in her account.Police from Nong Prue Police Station were called to the property at 9.30am on 2 July 2026 after reports of a foreign national being killed. Officers, forensic investigators, Pattaya Tourist Police, medical staff and rescue workers attended the scene. The victim, Thomas David, who operated a cannabis farm in the Bang Lamung area, was discovered lying on his back in the bathroom of the main bedroom. His body had been placed on a bedsheet with a pillow supporting his head and covered with a grey towel. He had suffered a stab wound beneath the left side of his chest and was believed to have been dead for at least six hours.Investigators found dried blood throughout the house and signs of a struggle. Bloodstains indicated the body had been dragged into the bathroom. Police also recovered a Spartan-style knife from the kitchen sink, where it had been washed clean of blood. The victim’s girlfriend also from the UK, was found sitting beside the body. Police said she appeared heavily intoxicated, possibly from cannabis, had cuts on her fingertips and repeatedly claimed her husband had injured himself. She also told officers she suffered from depression and severe anxiety with panic attacks. Investigators said they were not convinced by her account.Charlie, 33, a British friend and business associate of the victim, told police he travelled to the house after another business partner in the United States contacted him, fearing something was wrong. He recorded video as he entered the property, discovering blood throughout the house before finding Violet sitting beside Thomas’s body in the bathroom. He immediately alerted police.Neighbours said the couple had moved into the house only two weeks earlier, paying 85,000 baht per month in rent. They reported regularly hearing arguments between the pair. On the previous evening at around 10pm, neighbours heard dogs barking loudly, while at about 2am a delivery of dog food went unanswered, prompting concern before the body was discovered the following morning.Police have taken the girlfriend, Isabelle Violet in for further questioning while forensic officers examine fingerprints and DNA evidence. Colonel Nattapol Phongsuksakul, superintendent of Nong Prue Police Station, said investigators believe Thomas did not stab himself because of the evidence of a struggle and contradictions in Violet’s statements. Police are also reviewing CCTV footage from the house as part of the investigation. Officers said they are preparing to charge her with murder while enquiries continue. July 2Jul 2 Another psycho woman hiding behind "depression and severe anxiety"... Just another way of expressing the inability to cope with not getting what they want when they want it.

I had a friend when I was young that blew his head off with a 12 gauge shotgun when he was stoned on ganja. No way would he have done that when straight. He was accepted to Princeton and looking forward to attending university. My niece who used to work as a trauma nurse in a large hospital told me many stories of delirious patients coming into the emergency ward stoned out of their minds on cannabis with knife slashes all over their bodies from self mutilation.
July 2Jul 2 Look at the first picture of the girl. She's got the neck and hands of a 65 year old. Why is that relevant? Hard core drug users often look decades older than their chronological age and do bizarre things. I wonder if she will be able to cry her way out of this one. Oh, and note that she is tattooed.

July 2Jul 2 So bored of the pot heads all over Thailand these days. It was OK when they confined themselves to KSR or beaches in the far reaches. Now everywhere you go that stinking smell and shaven head kids thinking they are Tony Suprano. Bring back the good old days when they would be locked up for 20 years.

July 2Jul 2 With all those tattoos, she doesn't look like anyone I would be willing to date. And, no doubt, from the sound of this case, rather unstable, too.I would like to know more about her background, and her rap sheet, after checking with the police in the UK.

July 2Jul 2 Right out of Reefer madness. So much for the special screening of visitors. Cutting the visas from 60 to 30 days sure made a difference. 🫢 We won't be seeing those pesky seniors from nordic countries causing a kerfuffle going forward.......
July 2Jul 2 Nothing to do with cannabis. He most likely and for good reason by the looks of this skag wife was seeing Thai ladies...
July 2Jul 2 Something doesn't add up. What alerted the US based business associate that there was a problem? Why did Charlie (33) feel it necessary to video his entrance to the property - alibi? Who kills somebody and then orders dog food for delivery at 2am? Even drugged up, was she physically capable of overpowering the male victim and inflicting multiple knife wounds without suffering any injuries herself? Why wash the knife, leave it in the sink, and then hang around to be arrested anyway? This plot will thicken considerably, methinks.

Settling in Thailand as a foreign couple and all the pretty young women around can tempt many, and if they're morally weak, some will give in. Her jealousy could have been strong already, with these ladies putting her over the edge if he did anything. Speculation of course as it could have just been a fight that got out of hand. I've never seen weed make a person violent that wasn't already a part of their persona. It usually calms people. Some should never use any mind altering substances, especially those with depression or other mental illnesses. It can cause paranoia and psychosis in some individuals, especially young users or those with an existing mental condition.

Though a bit flimsy, don't you think?Perhaps you can clarify your position...are you suggesting that he deserved to be stabbed in the back and front, murdered, and that he deserved it, due to being a "fine man"? I don't notice any stab wounds on her, nor have the police recorded any damage to her person other than cuts on her fingertips. So on what basis are you the maligning the victim? Because he owned a cannabis farm and therefore deserved to be murdered by his psycho girlfriend? Is it too much for you to accept that she really is "the crazy one"? Six stabs wound around his body not enough evidence for you?
July 2Jul 2 You can just tell by the way she is sat in the presence of law enforcement officers..no shame and no respect. Ganga cadets at it yet again but hey can't be the ganga..that just makes you chill and and get the munchies..what tripe..this isn't the 70s with a bit of morrocan black..this stuff is leathal and a killer as we can plainly see here. The sooner this killer drug is criminalized the better. A perfect storm was created 3-4 years ago, available ganga and easy visas for young junkies to come and cause mayhem, all bringing their hate, entitlement and nasty bile with them..when is enough gonna be enough..Thailand please look at what utter scum you are attracting

Along with any crime attached to it. Strong weed, readily available these days, can make some go haywire, but again, it's usually a hidden personality trait that has them going off. Millions use weed without any problems, let alone violent ones. Yaba , Meth is another story, as it can make anyone hyped up and especially those prone to violence. People that smoke weed aren't junkies. That term is attached to those hooked on more powerful, more addictive drugs like Heroin, Morphine, Meth or Cocaine, especially Crack. Thailand attracts people mostly for the girls, and that will bring out all kinds from all over. A sex capital can have bad results when off kilter people are coming, and it's not about drugs as much but drinking and women.
