Aussie Murder Suspect Faces Thai Compensation Talks

Featured Replies

Where is the Gofundme? I need million baht to reduce my jail sentence. The murder was completely out of my control and now the unreasonable Thai family want compensation. I'm really a nice guy, just misunderstood.

GoFundMe strictly prohibits raising funds for the legal defense of individuals accused of specific categories of crimes, including violent crimes, financial crimes, sex crimes, and hate crimes. Campaigns created for these purposes violate the platform’s policies and are subject to removal, with donations being refunded.

Disgusting that compensation would even be considered to factor in a reduced sentence for the Aussie scumbag.

Fully agree. I have never understood that - it seem so immoral. The cops 'mediate' the compensation talks and take a cut (allegedly). In this country, everything revolves around turning something - anything - into a profit. The justice system in this country is one of the weirdest I've ever encountered. The fact precedence is not followed in sentencing opens it up for corruption.

The parents said this was her first trip away from home. Maybe that will be proved false. But it hasn't as yet.

But in the long run as far as the crime goes it doesn't make any difference.

And it seems no one has come forward to say they saw her on all her previous trips.

Look although it doesn't matter, he killed her, it was wrong and he should pay ( serve time not just $$$) but please
get real:
she got all those tats in Kalisin ?
her 22 year old id card?
her ease with picking up a farang at 2 am?
and u believe her parents that this is her 1st trip to Pattaya?
wow
do u also believe the moon is made of cheese?

It is reported Carman entered Thailand on a tourist visa which he then extended which means he had to show 20K baht.

BS i’ve extended my tourist visa many many times and never been asked to show 💩

Where would he get the funds to compensate ?

Win the Thai lottery ?

At his age as he was working in Australia one would expect that he would have money in the non government pension fund one million baht is not a big sum in $Aus.

I don't know who's more evil..... the Aussie Brit, or the parents who sent her to "work"

I saw what you did there... couldn't help yourself to have a swipe at the Brits, even though the was a Ozzie. Such ingrained hate on this forum.

Who knows , he probably has parents as well retired in Australia, if they are still alive , he probably has brothers and sisters

This is described across several media while not the whole picture would not be unusual for any young girl growing up poor in Isaan:

Ms Oradee said her stepdaughter went to Pattaya on June 16, telling them she wanted to go for a holiday with her friend.

"She asked for money from her grandmother and she gave her some," Ms Oradee said.

"She said she wanted to see the sea."

Parents covering their tracks. I’d put money on them sending her there to make money in bars but being she should be 20 years of age to do that work they are making up the story. The bar is in trouble also for giving her the job.

Even though the world media has descended upon Pattaya, not one person has come forward to say they have seen her prior to this trfip.

If he was a truck driver as alleged and 45 I would hazard a guess if he working the last 25 years he should have over $100 k in his Superannuation

My general purpose answer is that if she was in Pattaya before this trip, someone would have come forward to say so.

As far as the crime goes, it doesn't make any difference.

And at least from the crisis payment to pay any compensation from Australia it can only be done if he person is IN Australia.

You must be in Australia to claim an Australian Government Crisis Payment, as one of the strict eligibility rules is that you are physically in the country when you submit your claim. If you are already outside of Australia, you cannot receive this payment.

He wouldn't be eligible for social scheme that as he had would have too much money in his bank account and it's only a one off payment ,it's for homeless people

But he is eligible for emergency assistance from his Superannuation / Retirement fund ,

He can submit a claim once he returns though.

From gemini : Under Australian law, superannuation is legally protected to ensure it is used strictly for retirement. Therefore, a criminal conviction and the subsequent need to pay court-ordered fines or compensation do not meet the legal criteria for the early release of super funds.

I never mentioned superannation funds.

12 hours ago, it is what it is said:

yea, she may well have said she wanted to see the sea, but how many parents really know what their teenage children are getting up to? mine certainly didn't.

I can guarantee that that your parents were 100% aware that the chances of your heading to a seaside town notorious for its reputation as a sex resort where the chances of you engaging in prostitution were very low.

Their parents don't they are selling their bodies, they've told their parents that they the are working in Big C, Lotus's etc.

There's not a chance that the parents don't really know what their daughters are doing in Pattaya.

This is complete garbage. It is way too early to be talking about deals. This is nothing but speculation. Last I heard, the oxygen thief was being investigated over three other unsolved murders of women whose bodies were also dumped in suitcases. The guy could turn out to be a serial killer. “The Suitcase Butcher.”

He's already been eliminated from those cases.

The parents ought to show a moral backbone and refuse $$.

Aussie needs the electric chair more than the family needs the cash.

💯%

Its easy to say don't take the money , but when you are extremely impoverished their daughter has gone sadly..

Aussie Brit? WtF you on about he born and bred Australian. Where did the Brit come from? Plus she had told her parents she was going on holiday. Just maybe that is true

would you like to explain your comment now,

lets try again, you are saying that.....

if i was raped my attacker might question any compensation I was awarded because he enjoyed it !

does that make sense to you ? Explain or retract
