Do you believe in the Scientific Method? And, why?

Science might be right 99.9999% of the time, but that doesn't make it factual. Whereas zen (lowercase z) doesn't claim to be true or false, or right or wrong. zen (lowercase z) accepts what "we" (although there is no you, me, or we) experience HERE and NOW. And although zen identifies everything other than HERE and NOW as delusional, it doesn't expect you to ignore these delusions. They are helpful to your delusional self to live the delusional life we all have.

Happiness is a delusion but the chemicals that create it are real. Brain chemicals create emotions. If you exercise or dance or joke around you can make yourself feel more happy. Science explains the process. If believing in a concept like God or Now makes you feel happy that is good but it is just a trick you use to create positive brain chemicals that influence mood.

Religion or Zen are just feel good movements.

You keep making false statements based on the fake concept of NOW. Scientifically impossible for time to stand still. There is no NOW. 60 years of brain washing. You wasted your life believing a false narrative. Like religious types you will never upgrade your thinking. Ai can prove you wrong in 3 seconds.

I don't have a fake concept of NOW; I have no concept of NOW. NOW is only experienced, not conceived of. Yes, science probably says it's impossible for time to stand still because it is based on the belief in cause and effect, among other things. All religions, like science, are based on some kind of delusion created by our intellects to help us feel like we understand and have some control over our lives. zen is just experience without a need to understand - only BE.

AI could, I'm sure, prove me wrong. AI is based on logic just like science. So anything not logical could be considered "wrong."

By the way, about 50 years ago, I worked for Terradata, one of the first companies to use a massively parallel processor, and my title there was "Director of Predictive Analysis and Artificial Intelligence." Of course, AI then was nothing like it is now. One reason is the speed of computers.

Facts are just true observations of nature. Nobody created them. Smart people watched natural processes and recorded the correct data after years of trial and error.

Facts are created by people. Reality was not.

I agree with what you said above when applied to religions, including the religion of science. zen (lowercase) does not make you feel good. zen dissolves the delusion of the self and judgments such as good and bad. During zazen (zen meditation), it is just the experience of HERE and NOW, without any attachment to self (not - I am HERE and NOW), or judgments (not - I feel good when I am only in the HERE and NOW). These attachments and judgments, like all delusions, do not exist.

Facts are just correct observations. Science is not perfect cause humans make mistakes. Zen is made up mumbo jumbo and unscientific. There is no NOW. You keep fooling yourself into believing it cause it gives you a positive brain chemical hit. Your behaviour is not much different to a smoker. Zen is your drug of choice.

Science is not about belief. Science does not care what you believe.

What you are posting are predictions and projections. That is not science, it is modelling based on perceived trends.

Science is a work in progress. We once had phlogiston theory, and the proposition humans would die of asphyxiation if they traveled at more than 30 mph.

Science is evidence-based. The fact smokers are 20 times more likely to die of lung cancer than non-smokers is statistical evidence obtained by empirical observation.

Every time you board an aircraft, or undergo surgery, you are trusting science and engineering.

In other words, don't throw out the baby with the bathwater.

Without lungs and a heart you don't exist. Your internal organs are real. So you have a physical body. Your mind is just thoughts and reactions to outside stimulous. 80% of thoughts are negative for the average person. Caveman brain.

Facts are a way to record info to make life easy. Farmers need to know when to plant crops. If drying clothes you want to know the prospect of rain. Without recorded facts life would be chaos.

Does ANYONE on TV believe that the basic/core concepts of the Scientific Method should be introduced to ALL students, NO LATER than the 7th Grade?

It's better that they learn the hard way; it's all part of growing up, and being British.

But then, what happens if these so-called British reach voting age, and still know nothing about the Scientific Method?

What then?

They can vote Reform.

What is the difference in Clacton? There is no 'o' in Farage.

I had not appreciated your wisdom, until I extrapolated it, and a country that fails to educate its youth in common sense has destroyed itself.

I believe what you say above about science. People believe it because it makes them feel safe and in control. It's mumbo jumbo and unzen. There is no time but NOW, and no place but HERE. You're not much different than a Christian. Science is your Jesus of choice.

"Facts" are invented to make us (humans) feel more in control of our lives. Of course, we are not. "Facts" do help and are usable most of the time, but not all the time. They are not real "facts"; they are explanations made up using logic and reason. They work for the most part, but not always. You could say they are a guess of what's going on.

I disagree with your comments above about a physical body. I agree with your comments about thoughts and reactions.

NOW does not exist. If it existed you could measure it. You can't.

All facts are made up. Some are made up to reflect experimental evidence. Or explain experimental evidence. Some report football results. Some have shakier foundations.

The earth circles around the sun. This was made up to explain astronomical observations

The sun circles about the earth. This was made up to explain earlier astronomical observations

England won the World Cup (roundball) in 1966 - this was based on the observed result of a football match at Wembley in that year.

If you want names for them, lets call them
"Heliocentricity"

"Geocentricity"
"Wemblypalypse"
I am not sure that giving facts specific names is helpful, but if you search on "Weblypalypse", I am pretty sure it will bring you here, within a few weeks.

The earth does orbit around the sun. You must be a nut.

Is the earth round or flat?

I think so. I think it is concave, and approximately spherical.

But for the purposes of cycling, it is largely flat, with ups and downs.
So do you have a world view for your life?

That is not science. Maybe junk science.

Agreed. Being paid to produce a certain answer is not science but many if not all research institutes get money from powerful backers. Do you believe they will give a result that goes against a powerful backer? If they do they may well lose money they can use use for funding importance issues.

How about the shortest distance between two points is a straight line? There are no straight lines in reality. And, in fact, there are no two seperate points, either.
