Snakes or Dogs: What kind of pet-lover are you?

Real men don't own indoor cats

Are you a real man? What is a real man?

You'll learn a lot in life if you have (not own) cats.

I wholeheartedly agree with Mark Twain, who famously said:

When a man loves cats, I am his friend and comrade, without further introduction.

There is something special about people who love cats.

Hunting and killing rodents, birds, lizards, etc is the fastest way for your cat to get infected with various parasites... but they are hunted too. A near neighbour had her white 10-year-old cat eaten by a water monitor lizard a few months ago. The land owner witnessed it and found her collar. Fortunately, I'm leaving this area, which is adjacent to a large untamed parcel of land with swamps. I'm super worried about my cats being eaten, as they've been over the wall that separates the swamp land several times.

This is why you need to invest in LAB MICE.....Of course....!

I did not say to just let your cat hunt random rats from around your home.

This would be a very bad option.

Always buy your cat Lab Rats.

That's what they are for.

By special you mean female or gggay right?

Dogs and cats from birth through now, with one bird my ex wife had who was nice to have around. Will have more of the same when we move back to Texas, including a bird. Snakes should be left wild, to help control the vermin population.

Cats, dogs, horses, cows, goats..name it...all animals are great. But I would put a reserve on most snakes that are a threat to humains and nobody really wants to have them around. Yet unfortunately they are all over, are a threat to humains and one finds them even in those swanky pool villas in Hua Hin where nothing is done to move them out. Fine, until a holiday renter gets bitten that can bring the entire rental business down when the news goes viral.

Just bringing up "gay" on a forum with many gay members is the height of ignorance, for want of a better description that would not be allowed on here.

A special person is a kind and tolerant person, the opposite of what you seem to be. You learn to be very tolerant when you have cats. I have 7, and I'm pretty sure I'm more of a man than you'll ever be.

If they looked that cute, I'd probaly name it, and get rid of the cat 😄

It would probably be an ex's cat anyway, as I'm not ggggay. 🤣

For the cat lovers I recommend this magnificent documentary. And, if you love Istanbul as I do, there the extra bonus.

Should that stop me from recommending this beautiful production? Watch the trailer and if you decide that it is worth it buy, or use an illicit copy at your own risks, as many do.

I decided "no more pet animals" when I moved to Thailand; wanted my freedom after having dogs — one at the time — living with me in my Danish home country.

So, what did I end up with down here:

1: The next door neighbours dog that didn't want to go home — it presumably hated the other two dogs there — as final solution for not loosing face from crawling under my desk in the study every afternoon to catch the dog, the neighbur finally said: My daughter could have the dog. So, what actually happened: I ended up taking care of it — an about 4 years old black ridgeback bitch — whom I fed and paid vet-bill for, for another 10 years. Apart from that, a fairly nice dog that was also permitted to stay by The-Lady-of-the-House on condition that it did not dig bones down again in the pot-plants — an agreement the dog kept, it only happened that one time...

2: Five years later a puppy one evening climbed up the beach stair during the family's candlelight supper — huge puppy eyes asking for goodie and a piece of delicious beef meat went down. My daughter wished to keep the puppy — she never asked for the other dog, it was the neighbours own solution — which I got soft enough to agree in on one condition: She should take care of the dag herself. So, what happened: I ended up preparing gourmet dinners for two dogs and daily doggy walk — which is not so bad for my health — and my daughter left to study in Europe. The puppy never ever walked down that beach stair again to leave the mansion, she still stays here on her 10th year...

3: Six years later when I came down one morning, there suddenly was this pack the living room...

697)wIMG20220127144409_New-residents.jpg

My lovely girlfriend told me that the owner of the kittens couldn't take care of them and that they should be "throw them away". My girlfriend would help taking one of the two white Khao Manees, but ended up with all three kittens. Only one stays here, I stated, the other two must be given away! But a friend began to tell me that cats can have very strong ties to other cats. Solution: Three feline residents — I still had no pets — but I'm kindly allowed to pay a food-and-vet share in the new arrivals...😄

4: One night three years ago on the way back home from 'a night in the town' there was sitting a tiny kitten in the middle of the driveway to the parking lot. It didn't move; so. I had to get out of the car and carry it to the table, where the parking guards use to sit. The little skinny being purred loudly and when placed on the table it looked at me like saying: You cannot leave me here. I couldn't. So, now I myself brought a pet to the house, one extra wouldn't matter much in the already crashed budget — but it matters much in the heart — the little orange thing moved in on my desk...

5: So, what is the status then today?

One dog and eight felines — OMG, and three of them are newly arrived kittens — my girlfriend brought four more to the house...🫨

For the order of good sake, I shall admit that I bought a Siamese kitten, the kind of local breed I wished, if I should ever have a cat in Thailand — so, now I do have two feline pets — the Siamese girl is still just another desk-resident...

Dogs and Cats are good to people.

Snakes, not so good.

One should not be a Tourist, and own either cats or dogs.

Perhaps your opinion is slightly biased because I'm guessing you have never owned or handled pet snakes. Here is Google's opinion:

Pet dogs cause vastly more injuries to pet owners than pet snakes do. Millions of dog bite injuries occur globally every year, requiring hundreds of thousands of emergency room visits. In contrast, injuries from pet snakes are rare, and bites from captive non-venomous snakes typically result in minor scratches or superficial punctures.

Pet cats cause vastly more injuries to pet owners than pet snakes. Hundreds of thousands of cat bites and scratches happen every year, leading to tens of thousands of emergency room visits. In contrast, pet snake bites are rare, mostly minor, and result in a negligible number of owner injuries.

I guess I must be biased toward favoring mammals, but I cannot think why.

I have never been bitten by a dog; what does it feel like?

Although I can appreciate the natural beauty of reptilians, I am not inclined to keep them inside my house.

Most stupid comment of the year, next...

Cats always cats, this is a little video of my Tuxedo cat (name Macro named after a Roman General not the shop) telling me who is the boss.

About snake, you need a talk with my daughter — she wished a pet snake, I was against it — I'm happy that I'm also not going to take care of a white pet-snake...☺️

About tourists, you are right. Pets are sometimes left on their own, when people leaves — tourists, or whatever other reason — very sad, when you meet a dog at 7-Eleven and being told it hangs out there because the owner left.

The two last additions to the feline mansion is a kitten that a tourist came with and asked if we could take care of, as she was going home. She had seen and pet our cats on the beach — this was a great move, the lady had cared for the little cute cat that came with a fine basket and all accessories, and the tourist-lady cried when she left it...

— the other newcomer is a kitten that was thrown over a fence...😟 A phone call later it ended up here; snapped together with "my orange cat"...

Ok. While it is a bit longer than a dumb TikTok reel, it is a gem, well worth a token payment or the infinitesimal risk of <not allowed to be mentioned here> ..

There's no point in making smart comments when you don't understand the full context behind replies. There was nothing funny to behold.

The original comment was a homophobic comment about real men not having cats, suggesting that cat lovers are feminine or gay. That poster is probably a closet cat lover who's too afraid to admit it. You can use your sense of humour and laugh at that if you like, LOLOL.

When I first had cat friends, I was a real boy, not a real man, at age 15.

I had two from the same litter.

Each had a different personality.

Cats are more interesting than dogs, at least for real boys, because cats are more-independant creatures.

Cats climb trees, while dogs rarely do.

Snakes also climb trees, but I would not want one.

First thing that comes to my mind when they go anti-gay or bi, they themselves are and scared to be exposed.

Real men, living in fear ... got to love it.

Yes, but, to be perfectly honest, I TOO live in fear.

I live in fear of boarding airliners with unruly passengers, or sitting next to someone like Davy The Fat Boy....
