Snakes or Dogs: What kind of pet-lover are you?

First thing that comes to my mind when they go anti-gay or bi, they themselves are and scared to be exposed.

Living in fear ... got to love it.

I watched a video of a guy who stated he was not a cat-person, befriending a stray cat outside his property and eventually bringing it inside after years of feeding her. The cat's name was Mona. There was a comment on this video that I found true, yet quite humorous. If you know cats, you will completely agree.

The man: "I'm not a cat-person"

Mona: "We'll see about that"

I know many (real) men who would state they don't like cats. I was one of them... only to become the biggest cat lovers you will find. You won't know for sure until you spend some time up close and personal with one. They will choose their humans. You don't own a cat; they own you.

When I first had cat friends, I was a real boy, not a real man, at age 15.

I had two from the same litter.

Each had a different personality.

Cats are more interesting than dogs, at least for real boys, because cats are more-independant creatures.

Cats climb trees, while dogs rarely do.

Snakes also climb trees, but I would not want one.

Not many people have a place to keep a dog, so they default to cats, as they can be kept solely indoors and in small apartments. It doesn't matter if Juristic has a no-pet policy in Thailand. There will always be lots of cats in condos.

In Pattaya, there is a free municipal desexing program every month or so, but if you need desexing for a very low price, go to the Animal Army Foundation hospital in Na Jomtien. 800 for boys and 1000 for girls, and only 100 baht per night to stay in hospital. These people care about animals, not the money. They perform midline spaying, rather than flank spaying.

I'm providing this information because last year I was searching for a vet to spay my female cats, and only came across places that charged ridiculous prices, and no one on here had any useful information at all. If you love your cats, you've got to have them desexed. Life for a fertile cat is very rough, both boys and girls. My family has now expanded to 7 cats, 2 boys and 5 girls. I tried to save 2 stray cats last June, but after spending 20k, I lost both.

Thankfully, I assume, you did not attempt this surgery, yourself.

It's always best to pay for an expert's help, from an approved member of the veterinary community.

If one does not neuter one's cats, then they will become noisy and unhappy, at times.

I decided "no more pet animals" when I moved to Thailand; wanted my freedom after having dogs — one at the time — living with me in my Danish home country.

So, what did I end up with down here:

1: The next door neighbours dog that didn't want to go home — it presumably hated the other two dogs there — as final solution for not loosing face from crawling under my desk in the study every afternoon to catch the dog, the neighbur finally said: My daughter could have the dog. So, what actually happened: I ended up taking care of it — an about 4 years old black ridgeback bitch — whom I fed and paid vet-bill for, for another 10 years. Apart from that, a fairly nice dog that was also permitted to stay by The-Lady-of-the-House on condition that it did not dig bones down again in the pot-plants — an agreement the dog kept, it only happened that one time...

2: Five years later a puppy one evening climbed up the beach stair during the family's candlelight supper — huge puppy eyes asking for goodie and a piece of delicious beef meat went down. My daughter wished to keep the puppy — she never asked for the other dog, it was the neighbours own solution — which I got soft enough to agree in on one condition: She should take care of the dag herself. So, what happened: I ended up preparing gourmet dinners for two dogs and daily doggy walk — which is not so bad for my health — and my daughter left to study in Europe. The puppy never ever walked down that beach stair again to leave the mansion, she still stays here on her 10th year...

3: Six years later when I came down one morning, there suddenly was this pack the living room...

697)wIMG20220127144409_New-residents.jpg

My lovely girlfriend told me that the owner of the kittens couldn't take care of them and that they should be "throw them away". My girlfriend would help taking one of the two white Khao Manees, but ended up with all three kittens. Only one stays here, I stated, the other two must be given away! But a friend began to tell me that cats can have very strong ties to other cats. Solution: Three feline residents — I still had no pets — but I'm kindly allowed to pay a food-and-vet share in the new arrivals...😄

4: One night three years ago on the way back home from 'a night in the town' there was sitting a tiny kitten in the middle of the driveway to the parking lot. It didn't move; so. I had to get out of the car and carry it to the table, where the parking guards use to sit. The little skinny being purred loudly and when placed on the table it looked at me like saying: You cannot leave me here. I couldn't. So, now I myself brought a pet to the house, one extra wouldn't matter much in the already crashed budget — but it matters much in the heart — the little orange thing moved in on my desk...

5: So, what is the status then today?

One dog and eight felines — OMG, and three of them are newly arrived kittens — my girlfriend brought four more to the house...🫨

For the order of good sake, I shall admit that I bought a Siamese kitten, the kind of local breed I wished, if I should ever have a cat in Thailand — so, now I do have two feline pets — the Siamese girl is still just another desk-resident...

No more pet animals: At the moment I'm calculating what I can cut off in my personal expenses in the 2027-budget, so I have enough funds for the residing pets...🧐

This is a little similar to how I ended up with 7, all former strays. You don't choose cats; they choose you. They call it the CDS (Cat Distribution System):

AI Overview:

The 'cat distribution system' is a popular internet joke and meme describing the random, unplanned way stray cats or kittens show up in people's lives and get adopted. The running joke says that humans do not choose their pets; the universe or a mystical force assigns a cat to them.

How It Works

  • Sudden appearance: A cat appears in an odd place like a bush, under a car, or at a workplace.

  • Instant adoption: The animal approaches a person for help or food, leading to a permanent home.

  • Cosmic joke: People treat the encounter like a fateful delivery rather than a rescue.

I grew up with small male poodles.

Beau Beau and Pepe.

Yeah, I know.

However I think poodles are too smart and neurotic for anyone's good.

Cockapoos are better.

I'm allergic to cats and I find them annoying.

I would pay to not keep a snake.

I stated quite clearly, so no assumption was necessary, that they were all desexed at the Animal Army Foundation, Animal Hospital in Na Jomtien. It is a modern veterinary hospital run by a vet couple. They are a charity-funded organisation. They even get volunteers from around the world to work and care for the animals.

I used to think I was allergic to them, but it turned out I am not... but if you are allergic, then that's a good reason not to have them. Apart from sneezing, why do you find them annoying? I have 3 cats in a small apartment, and most of the day I wouldn't know they were here. They sleep 12-16 hours a day, and they are out for about 9 hours a day.

Because I perceive them as aliens while dogs are fully wired towards us humans.

Thank you.

This is good and important information for everyone reading this Topic.

Yes, this is the reason why cat lovers usually like dogs, but not the other way around.

Dog lovers dislike cats because they expect instant obedience and clear affection.

A good example is returning to my apartment after being out all day. The cats hardly acknowledge my presence unless they are hungry, LOL. If they were dogs, they'd be licking me to death. Cats own you. They call the shots. This is why cat owners are more tolerant people in general. If my cat does something bad, such as destroying my computer monitor and damaging my new laptop, there's nothing I can do other than make my office more cat-proof to prevent it from happening again. You cannot punish cats in any way that will alter their behaviour. They cannot perceive that they did anything wrong.

You can keep both Ralf. At the mo we have 7 cats, 2 dogs (one died yesterday) and 22 ducks.
