Push-bike

Featured Replies

Hi

In the interests of trying to keep a bit fit I'm considering buying a push-bike. I guess that I need a mountain bike as it will have to cope with the state of the roads over on the dark side of town.

I've looked at what is on offer in Tesco and Big C and, although the prices are very reasonable, I'm less than impressed by the quality. In my experience, 'Made in China' is not much of a recommendation. No possibility of riding a newly purchased machine home from the supermarket either as a quick inspection seems to indicate that the assembly of these bikes was performed by a monkey.

So, are there any reasonable bike shops in Pattaya? I'm not looking for anything up-market but it needs to be a bit better than the Supermarket offerings and, preferably, not weigh a ton. I'd like to limit the budget to maybe 15k Baht - maybe too low for anything half decent I suspect.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

There was a thread on this subject a few weeks ago - specifically for mountain bikes.

I recommended a place on Thepprasit (or is it Theppraya?) that leads down from Sukhumvit by Tesco / Outlet Mall. As you go down from Suk you will pass a go-kart track on your right. A little further down on the right is Soi 10 - which leads on to Soi 17 of Pattaya Third Road - and on the corner of Thanon T/Soi 10 there is a shop with many bikes - better quality than Big C or Tesco, but costing around 15k to 18k. And not large frames - so if you are 6ft or so you will have a bike with lots of saddle-stem showing.

Other outlets were mentioned on the previous thread, so please search back a few pages.

Do you realise where you stand in the pecking order riding a bicycle in Pattaya, rats on skateboards have more authority!!

Good luck to you my friend :o
