I have around 1000 that I haven't yet listened to, and will be bringing 200+ to Texas that are new to listen to while I'm visiting. The rest I've already listened to numerous times since 8-tracks came out, then cassettes then cd's. When we're driving around shopping and hunting and fishing in Texas, I average 10 a day, then I put them into the collection for future listening. If you figure on 250 days minimum a year with 10 a day, that's 2500 a year, along with older ones subtracted making up the other 50+ days in the year. I don't drive without listening to music, and sometimes listen to new ones at home.

The 8 tracks and cassettes explain how you could already know some of the music before buying it again on CD. But they do not solve the time problem. You are still claiming decades of repeated listening to tens of thousands of albums, extensive reading and research, work and a normal life. The numbers make “I know all well” very difficult to believe.

That's what makes a music fanatic. Listening to music any spare time you have. I could rephrase that by saying I know most very well, and the rest well enough to remember many of the songs lyrics from decades ago. Not all of the songs lyrics by memory, but the music comes back as soon as I listen to it.

Haven’t you always wondered why some bar girls are always so happy, with stars in their eyes, and looking so healthy and good considering what they do and the work environment?

Eau De Queef is the go for me.

Love it.

Money or the promise of money, sending some back to greedy parents who don't care what their children do as long as they contribute. Bar girls aren't really happy doing what they do. Happy they can pay off debts and send money home to those parents or some children, rarely seeing them but a few times a year.

They can stay home and live with the family and make less money, and not spend the extra they make on accommodations and possible substances. Frequent sex does build up endorphins, until the guilt comes around, and that high wears off.

They aren't healthy for long, many getting STD's from the start, along with possible beatings or murders. The new ones don't always know what's coming, but eventually they'll learn it's not as glamorous as it sounds. Wear and tear on the bodies has many looking older by the week, and makeup only goes so far. Those smiles are there for a reason.

I'm adding this link, as it's a good read on what goes on here as far as bar girls and their lives, an excerpt here......

On the other hand, it should be considered that sleeping with men twice/thrice their age, and men they generally have no physical attraction to, week in week out, will take its toll on the majority of girls.

No doubt that in some cases there is psychological damage, similar to that experienced by victims of sexual abuse, albeit the bargirl act is consensual and transactional.

Therefore, it isn’t surprising that so many girls experience breakdowns and turn to drugs and alcoholism and end up in refuges. The reality is that post the bar, most struggle to ever have a normal, loving relationship

When you hit the bars on a Saturday night, I wouldn't blame you for thinking the last paragraph regarding drug and alcohol abuse and refuges is a little far fetched. I would have thought so many years ago.

Until I taught martial arts at a women’s refuge in Bangkok, that is.

Becoming a full-time bargirl takes conditioning.

Just look at the face of a new addition to a bar, and then return two months later to see her stripped of all that might have been sacred. I have seen it with my own eyes….

I will never forget one very timid girl, who looked like a rabbit in headlights on arriving at her new place of work. Her “cousin” had invited her to take up a position as a “waitress”.

It took her weeks to be conditioned to “go with a customer”. I know this because the bar boss was an acquaintance of mine for a while.

Three months later my travels took me away from the island, and as my taxi passed the bar on the way to Samui airport, she was swinging on the dance pole, hair extensions, knee high boots and calling out to men walking by. The transformation was quite something, but sad all the same.

The way men generally discuss these girls is as if they were “born to do it”. Again, this is a self-preserving attempt to separate their actions from the cause.

I met well over 50 women there who were victims of bars. Those that had broken down psychologically, those who experienced family abandonment when their parents found out (or rather when the friends and other villagers found out what they already knew), and perhaps most disturbingly, those who got pregnant after having been raped by pimps/facilitators, bar owners or customers..........https://www.thethailandlife.com/thai-bar-girls.

It was a joke, Fred.

But those who are good at it definitely have something about them.

Here i was thinking ,there is a reason bargirls do not wear perfume.

I know the reason why but i guess the op does not live in the real world at all.

NO.

You are WRONG.

FRED has solved the time problem

Fred can listen to 50,000 full CDs, (music CDs), far faster than almost anyone.

Fred listens to all his music, or so I recall him stating, at 50X-Speed.

So, about 1000 hours to listen to all 50,000 CDs.

And, 8-Tracks are for simultaneous listening in the other ear.

One has to give it to the Thai ladies, that they are very clean and wash and groom often. Not like the current western millenials (or even some Asians) who go for the scrubby woke co-funder look.

If you can't figure things out, it's best either to research or just not reply. Exaggerations also aren't necessary, as they're a go to for some who lack the previous skills. If you have trouble computing, you can always use the online calculator.

I have no trouble computing, and never have.

What about YOU?

I can compute in my head. If you want to understand how i could listen to so many cd's in the years since they came out, figure on an average of 10 a day 5 days a week. That subtracts the already listened to music along the way, as I do listen to music daily, especially when I'm out and about driving around.

Before they came out, I had all the music on cassettes, which I listened to much the same amount. Then I either bought or burned the older music onto cd's, and added them along the way when the new ones came out.

I burn music weekly, and continue to listen to them almost daily. When you understand how a music fanatic works, it's easy to understand that I've listened to all of those already in my collection, and have those 1000+ still waiting to be listened to. If you saw my collection you would understand.

However, if the girl or girls had already reached rock bottom before they entered the bar scene, anything might be a better life than what they left behind. Who really knows? I mean, nurses and health care workers, do you really know what they have to do for poor salaries? Or anyone working for a sleazy boss who takes advantage of them one way or another?

We just have to respect that some have a talent for what they do, and the girls I have met seem to control their own fate pretty well. You have stupid bar girls and you have smart bar girls. You cannot throw everyone under the bus and say they are what you think they are, what you describe them as, or what some studies say they are.

When it comes to smell and attraction, I do believe body chemistry and smell play a role. And a busy girl may have more of whatever attracts men than one who is not. It is not always that they are just good looking. Sometimes there is something more to it.

Can’t imagine those who thought they had found a sex machine, only to discover later that she was actually turned on by having many men and all the attention. Then suddenly she dries up into a moody, unrecognisable Karen, more holy than the Pope.

Can’t deny that some of the girls probably get a real boost from finally being adored and desired, instead of being bullied for their shape and darker colour. For some, the attention might be half the fuel.

Attention from regular men is a good thing for any woman to have, but attention from those who are only there to use her for sex, and getting money for it, isn't what has women feel good about themselves.

Yes, many women have to tolerate crappy bosses, but unless they are harassed or assaulted in a sexual way, that's all part of working for others above your pay scale and power.

There have always been certain reasons women go into the sex trade, and they'll always remain as a part of control (Family, boyfriends or trafficking), harsh poverty, coercion from family, abuse and or neglect as children, homelessness (poverty), drug addiction, or debts they brought upon themselves.

What that man wrote mirrors many others and studies done over the years. Some might be smart in some ways, but there are other options and work is available, although it might pay less. Poverty is a problem and some do enter the trade because of it, but many could just as easily stay home with family and or children, working locally, than going to a tourist area and spending the extra money they make on accommodations. Under age 18 is one factor, but older women in their 20's and higher are a different level.

From the following link................Results

The sample had a mean age of 35.7 years (range 18–61 years) (Table 1). Close to half (47.6%) of the women reported finishing high school or obtaining a GED. Substance use over the past 3 months was common with 70.8% reported injecting drugs in the past 3 months, 92.1% of whom had injected heroin in the past 3 months. 83.6% reported having smoked crack cocaine in the past 3 months. HIV prevalence was 5.2%. Trichomoniasis was highly prevalent with 48.8% of women testing positive at the baseline visit. Overall, 62.4% of the women reporting being homeless within the last 3 months and 61.2% reported going hungry over the same period. The mean age of entry into the sex trade was 24.7 (range 11–61). 21.2% of women entered < 18 years, 39.2% entered between 18 and 25, and 39.6% entered at older age groups. Half of the women had experienced childhood abuse, either physical or sexual. However, women that entered < 18 were more likely to report sexual childhood abuse than those 18+ years at entry (45.3% vs 29.4%, p value 0.02). Individuals who entered as minors were also much more likely to be HIV positive (11.3% vs 3.6%, p value 0.02) as well as have suffered from recent homelessness (79.2% vs 57.9%, p value < 0.01) or food insecurity (77.4% vs 56.9%, p value 0.01).................https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7305278/

Well Fred, your demographic study does not add up to a generalised opinion on women working in tourist areas as bar ladies. The ladies are diverse, and so are the bars.

I do not argue about poverty, abuse, addiction, coercion, or what background leads them to where they end up and what they do. All I am saying is that some ladies are better off than others, and some may actually enjoy the attention and being desired more than others.

The study you posted is also about a very specific population of street based sex workers in Baltimore, with extremely high levels of drug use and homelessness. You cannot simply transfer that population onto every adult bar girl in Thailand and assume you know her reasons, personality, or how she feels about what she does.

Prostitutes are the same everywhere, as women are in basic nature. Reading it might change your mind.

Again, there are specific reasons women enter the trade, and poverty is a small percentage of it, which can also add drugs, coercion and being abused as children. There have been constant studies for decades about prostitutes, and they all say the same things. You don't know what these women are thinking unless you read studies done from people who have interviewed thousands of them.

The same goes with couples counseling. The only way anyone knows what goes on in anyone's homes is to either live there are read up on studies done by psychologists and counselors who personally talk to these people and write about them.

Anyway Fred, this started with why some bar ladies smell better than expensive perfume. My take was simply that sexually active women do give off hormonal and chemical odour cues that men can pick up on, like a dog sniffing out a fertile bitch. Some old Stone Age wiring still hanging around in us, perhaps.

It was a humorous observation, not a scientific thesis.

Pheromones are what some think, but chemosignals are what attracts a man to a woman by scent. Subtle but there.

Chemosignals then. Glad we finally sniffed our way to the same point. 😂

You’ve never been complicated, Fred

I will never forget the glorious smell of my first girlfriend's hair, at age 16...it was like the ocean. Female hormones / pheromones.
