PUZZLED DEATH OF A CONSTRUCTION WORKER

A construction worker found dead in his resident at a construction site. Officials assumed that he worked too hard and had a heart attack. The body was taken for autopsy.

On the 3 September 2007, at 10.00 AM, Pol.Lt.Col. Somphol Nak-Kamphan, Pattaya investigator, Chonburi, and police team with Sawang Boriboon rescue, investigated a worker resident of a hotel construction site, in Soi 4, near Pattaya International hospital, Pattaya second Rd., after a notification that there was a worker died in the building.

At the incident, room No. 404, on the fourth floor, which is a temporary resident for worker, officials found deceased body of Mr. Wichian Phai-Ruengsuk (33), addressed at 41, Moo 8, Thap-Sadet, Ta-Praya, Sra-Gaew province. He was lying dead in his blue singlet and black shorts. There was no sign of being attacked. Presumably, he had been date for 5 hours.

Officials questioned Mr. Somporn Sae- Ung, (48), Mr. Wichian'sfriend. He said that Mr. Wichian was a drinker, but according to this Buddhist lent period, he refrained from drinking. The night before, he saw Mr. Wichian had his meal and watched TV, then both separated to go to sleep. In the morning he went to wake Mr. Wichian up to go to work, but found him dead.

Initially, officials assumed that Mr. Wichian was possibly working too hard, then got too tired and had a heart attack. However, officials would transfer his body to the hospital for autopsy.

Very few nationalities can beat the Thai construction worker at simple tasks.

Wish I had them here in Saudi still.

Just show them what to do, wind 'em up in the morning and they're on the go all day - like the Energizer rabbit.

Maybe one day they'll produce plumbers and electricians, too.

Sorry for this guy - basic of 100-150 baht a day - work several hours overtime every day to get a living wage - and it kills you.
