Why not have meat and two veg, order a Katoey :o

It seems to me that if there were a legitimate issue with payment, the bouncers would have stopped you from leaving. That they did let you leave tends to give the idea that they know about the scam and don't want the tourist police informed.

Is there any chance you can just avoid the area? Maybe if you need the services at Patpong you could go to Soi Cowboy instead?

Just never go back to this particular place again. Never. Ever. Never.
