English Test For Uk Immigration

Featured Replies

Could the average Thai married to a British foreigner pass the proposed new English test requirement for people wising to apply for settlement in the UK? The report I’ve read indicates that the test is equivalent to the GCSE level which I think is pretty tough.

Could you give the source of this report about a "proposed new test" and when it is to be a requirement so we can opine

Hi Mahout Angrit.

This is the link from the Sunday Telegraph yesterday.

It is not totally clear from the article if low skilled workers would be subject to an easier test.

I dont think the article actually applies to foreign nationals married to british partners, just those looking to work in the Uk

I agree with Markr, the link within your link would indicate it will apply to only those who enter UK on a WP visa specifically seeking work and not those entering UK as a spouse.

That'll mark the end for Thai restaurants wanting to bring chefs over from Thailand on a work permit, unless they speak perfect English on course.

I assume certain specialised occupations will be exempt.
