Fiancee, Yes Or No For Us Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

My girlfriend will be applying for a US tourist visa. We have been together (live-in) for 2 years and have been going out for 2.5 years. I'm 25 years old, and marriage is on the distant horizon, but too distant to tell with any accuracy. If i had to get married today, I'd probably marry my girlfriend.

Would people recommend describing our relationship as a fiancee-type relationship. We have plans to marry in the distant, distant future..but those plans may change. Or would people recommend simply saying we are long-time partners?

I'm not interested in applying for a fiancee visa, just a tourist visa as the purpose for the visit to America is tourism, not permanent residence.

I'm only asking how I should describe our relationship on the application for a tourist visa. Thanks.

If you live in Thailand, have a work permit and visa, lease, bank account etc, I would describe the relationship as long-term partners and show your links to Thailand and her links to you, as well as any links she as to Thailand as well.

The most important factor is whether they believe she will return to Thailand and not overstay in the U.S.

So the question is: does having an American boyfriend make her more likely, or less likely, to return to Thailand?
