There is an excellent, succinct website, http://www.centerforgastricbypass.com, that discusses the pros and cons of gastric banding and surgery. It discusses basic physiology, anatomy and even provides a body mass index calculator. Pre-surgery, anesthesia and post surgical concerns are also addressed. This is a great place to start if you are considering other means for loosing weight.

Banding or Bypass? they're different. I have a band, it's really helpful, and my stomach is still in one piece.

The Roux en Y bypass is said to be the best one. Th stomach is stapled closed apart from a pouch.

Anybody know the price of this in BKK?

P

Prices are on the Thai Hopital web sites

Less than 1/2 the price, than the above USA web

Anybody know any more about this?

There is one place which does (private) bypass. I am not sure of cost. The websites (eg Bumrungrad) dont give bypass prices.

I heard that Chula is starting to do bypasses. One guy there has trained in the USA.

Alas, it is still an all care no responsibilty type of arrangement.

Thanks

Do you mean that people need to take the responsibility for their own diets?
