Hutch Mobile-network For Internet

Featured Replies

Hallo Internet Mobile-Network User,

has got anyone experinece withe the Hutchison network in the up-country area Ayutthaya, Angthong, Pamok?

Hutch has got a CDMA 1x Mobile-Network and they offer a data transfer speed of 153,6 kbi/s with their following

devices AirCard Sierra 580, Data Card Huawei EC 321, Huawei USB-Modem and even some of their Mobile Phones

with a build-in modem can transmit in the same speed.

I would be very happy if some users can give their experiences in using one of this devices.

And more importantly I would like to buy such device here in the forum. Please send me your offer

Many thanks in advance.

Maybe bad timing to buy equipment at this time.

Hutch is currently upgrading to the cdma-evdo network offering much faster speeds ( 1mbps is possible, but averages between 300 and 700kbps are the norm).

Since the ev-do system is backward compatible with the 1X system it might be better to invest more in the ev-do cards, so if and when in your area the upgrade gets done you'll get the faster speeds.

And we can hope that maybe Hutch and CAT will come to a roaming agreement on their data services some time in the future. Hutch and CAT combined have almost nationwide coverage with the cdma network (with CAT already having quite some areas upgraded to EV-DO!).

On voice calls roaming is already working, so Hutch phones will work when in CAT covered areas and vice versa...

I need to get an EV-DO USB or ExpressCard for Mac OS X as a backup for my constantly-failing TOT line.

The problem was that last time I checked, the only EV-DO capable equipment CAT sold was a Sierra 580 PC card which had at that time already been discontinued by the manufacturer. Other than that, they sold a bunch of USB sticks / phones / terminals all at the slooooow 1x speed.

Please update this thread should CAT suddenly offer more choices for EV-DO... tx.

Hi monty,

thanks for your information. Do you exactly know when they will upgrade the net in EDVO in our area? Otherwise it doesn't make sens to me to buy the sierra 580 for 12,900.-- and in addition 999.-- THB for each single month unlimited internet access for only 153.6 kbi/s that's altogether 25,727.-- THB.Then I would rather choose one of their mobile phone promotion with modem under the current transmission rate condition. When the network is ready to use in EDVO then I will buy one of the newest AirCards or USB-Modem. Yesterday was in sierrawireless's internet sites and I found out that the production was discontinued since Dec. 06.

Nevertheless your information was helpful. I still waiting for the information how the Mobile Network under the CDMA 1x transmissin rate of 153.6 kbi/s is working with the data card Huawei EC 321, Huawei USB-Modem or one of their Mobile Phones including Modem.

Thanks in advance

Hi nikster,

it would be more helpful for yourself to post your own thread in choosing the right headtitle.

Thanks.

Oh, I already did that, a while ago.

the Huawei EC 321 works fine on OSX ...

but well the speed is terrible ...

iam not checked EV-DO for now ....

as Hutch gives ZERO service ... staff iss terrible trained .. (knows almost nothing) (try serval shops in thai and english)

shortly: you have to buy it .. and make a 1year contract BEFORE you able to get any information if its actually working on the place where you are ..

almost 30K baht just for a trial is way too much for me ...

the EDGE Speed in the hutch network is same slow as on Truemeove.

Hi

I got the new CCU-650, CDMA EV-DO USB modem from CAT, cost 11.000, comes with free SMS and voicecall, very easy to use the SMS, works fine, CAT say around 500-800kb, i am around 700-1200. of course i dont know the speed where you live.

Hi HDRIDER,

very encouraging reading your information but, who is the manufcturer of the CCU-650 because have to find out if it's the latest one or already obsolete. The transmission rate you can work with is more then sufficient but in which area are you situated? I am in the Angthong area and was in a cat shop already but, what do you think the kind of information I got it was disappointed and destructive for me and with this working style one can run a whole company agaist the wall. Everywhere the same it doesn't matter in which shop you are the employees are very terrible trained and not interesed at all.

Thanks in advance

Hi altf4,

that is the huge problem for us customer we have to buy the very expensive devices with this new technology and have to sign a contract for one year and when we are at home we have to recognise the network runs with an obsolete one. Exactly for this reason we have the duty to find out before, if the devices and the network are working propperly and sufficiently together otherwise we have to work with a more than disappointed transmission rate.

Thank you.
