My friend was just at the mall Ramkamhaeng and upstairs they had a copy of Halo 3 (cracked) he loaded it up in their 360 console, it was just loading the game title screen when suddenly their console got the 3 red lights...

Anyway I was wondering:

Firstly, how the hel_l did they get hold of it? Its not supposed to be out until 25th!

Secondly, coincidence that they got 3 red lights or maybe something else? Maybe I shoudl buy my copy elsewhere...

By the way I just ent there too and saw the package with the disc inside with my own eyes so I know he's not pulling my leg...

Just saw it playing in the local games shop here in Phuket, which has copies for sale but no originals - I don't own any chipped xbox 360's, but 3 unchipped ones. I have yet to have a problem with any of them, had them all and use them regularly for a year now.

So its nationwide! How the hel_l did these guys pull this off!! Where did they get it from?

You would have to be mad to try and sign onto live with halo prior to the launch.. banhammer candidate for sure..

If you obtain a copy of Halo 3 prior to its street date of Sept 25th, you will NOT be banned from Xbox Live for playing Halo 3 early (not even my fellow softies).

That would of course be legit ones.. Will see if the drive needs reflashing or how the fall update works out..

I would still be hesitant to play online if you just have one 360

There was a dashboard upgrade today that MS said was only to implement the device driver for the upcoming quiz show controller but who knows what else was in this update! The timing would be perfect to nab the halo pirates

The upcoming big dashboard update will surely have a stronger banhammer than the last!

In answer to th question, how the hel_l did they get it. The iso's been around on torrent sites for the last couple of days. So they would have just downloaded it and burnt it, then given it a box.

I think the source is from the UK store Argos who accidentally sent the game out to some of their pre order customers.

Strange to think that someone in the UK pops the disc in and backs it up, next day its coming out of their multi-burners on Patong beach, phuket... and everywhere else in the world

Although args in the UK did ship pre release.. The torrent is a NTSC version, so I doubt its a UK sourced one.

I have a modded Xbox in Thailand and am pretty sure the box has been banned on Xbox Live because I can't sign in... if I were to buy a real copy of Halo 3, could I play it online? Is there anyway to get my modded Xbox to play real games (ie. not copies) online anymore?

No once banned the box cannot get back onto live..

If live is needed its buy another box time...

I swore I'd never chip my 360 due to the live bans

However due to MS shoddy design and extremely high failure rate of the 360 I found myself with three 360s (took a long time to find somewhere to fix them) so I went and had one modded but still have a separate unchipped 360s for original/online play

The fall update should hit sometime in the next month or so and I guess MS will have improved their detection methods for detecting modded drives and stealthed games

Went to the place today and he had sold out.. Wont have more until Tuesday !!!

Went round all the other places but they have the proper pressed ones so expect a longer delay !!

Just finished the solo campaign for Halo 3.

The good:

Weapons rock. Totally. Graphics, sounds, etc all great.

The bad:

Too short, waiting (x) years for Halo 4!

The ugly:

After playing a marathon-long gaming session to beat the solo campaign, my girlfriend says:

"You finished play now? I can watch TV?"

To which I reply:

"You can watch it for a little bit while a take a break. Then I'm going to play it again on 'Legendary.'

Dunno.. One day i switched the beast on, and it showed a message and then whenever i wanna connect again, it shows up with the same message! Then i later found out, that day, some chipped X360 were being banned by Microsoft..

So it was just not me.. hehe!

Oh well, Theres always the game shop to play online, but then i need to retrieve my account and also pay for gold membership..

What sucks the most is that my gamerscore will never update.. since now i got like 5000+, but me XBL shows 2000+

MS are changing thier detection and attacks each update.. At least with firmware stealthing you can adapt to thier changes.. With a modchip your fixed..

I take it that you've been one of the lucky few who has not had their 360 RROD?

I've had this happen 3 times since I got my first at launch with 3 different UK PAL 360's (each lasted around 6 months) and did not know where to have them fixed till recently

As a result I found myself with 3 360s so figured what the hey and had one chipped just for offline use

If I only had the one 360 I too would never flash my 360 as live is getting more and more integral each month

Nope no 3RLD.. Tho I take great care to keep super ventilated at on top of the stack..

Plus now theres the xclamp so I reckon things are looking up that way..

Still on live (sign in) but hardly used it so not currently gold.. May update that for halo but will want to have the drive flashed to the latest stealth FW..
