What do the ringed member icons mean?

When it is in color the member is logged in (on-line), when grey they are not.

I guessed so.

It was just that there were 2 icons seemingly doing the same thing.

I didn't see the same images that you have due to my using the Pro Skin. Set it to default and see that if the member has their gender set it will show the icon as male or female. Not sure really about the 2nd icon, suspect it means the member has made a post recently though not sure what time frame it is based on (24 hours?).
