Could anyone please give me a hand? Where can I get my digital tape camcorder repaired in Bkk or better still in Phuket?? The problem, to me, seems to be with the heads and not so much with the maze of circuits that these things have...so the repair I am guessing is mechanical and not electrical in which case only JVC could help. JVC in Bkk by the way would bo so expensive :o it would not be worth the repair!

If the problem is the head, have you tried a head cleaning tape?

If that does not work try this page on the web.

I cannot find an English version, but it does give an e-mail address so you can send them a message.

As an ex-service engineer for Sony, the general trend in repairing camcorders has rapidly become a thing of the past....complexity and unit replacement cost making it un-viable unless the problem's minor. I'm pretty sure there's no JVC service centre located in Phuket and if you found a shop willing to have a look, they'd almost certainly forward it to Bangkok.... but be warned, rejecting an estimate for repair can often mean not receiving the equipment back.

Belated thanks for your help!! Yes, I have tried the cleaning tape with no luck,.. I guess they are knackered. You are right ...best to go to MBK or Pan Thip and see what happens. Nothing to lose really as it is 3 years old!! Nothing ventured ...nothing gained!

Thanks again.
