I've tried out the Comax print cartridges for my Canon MP500 printer as they are half the price. The color worked for a while. They aren't even complete copies of the cartridges as one has to take the small chip board off an old Canon cartridge and attach them to the new Comax to make them work.

Anyone else think these cheaper copies are just a waste of time and end up reverting to the original brand names? I had a similar problem with an HP printer before. Bottom line in both cases, I ended up spending more by buying copies that never fully worked and having to buy the originals anyway.

After finding it very difficult to buy Canon cartridges, [Never found a shop that has all 4 Canon cartridges] tried the Comax, they work fine and appear to always be in stock anywhere + they Comax have the double size Black.

I have the IP4000 and have never had a problem finding Canon ink (although less display now that printer getting older). The double size is the black text ink and series 3 rather than series 6 of the other cartridges. I have found new Canon ink to resist fade much better than the IJ/Comax that I had used in previous printer. But the savings offset may well be worthwhile if you do much printing.

I have a Cannon IP4200 printer, and just buy the ink to refill

The cartridges my self, after watching how the guy at the IT mall

Did it, if the ‘’warning box ‘’comes on screen about a problem

After filling the cartridges , I just bypass the alarm by holding down

The button for a few seconds and this bypasses the alarm system

Allowing the printer to continue printing until the next cartridge

fill , I only found out about this button by pass while reading a printer
