Moving From Chaing Mai To Phuket Or Hue Hin

Featured Replies

I will be traveling to Hue Hin in a few days to look for short term housing before I take most of my stuff I have aquired while here in thailand.

I have a new motorbike that I purchased in chaing Mai. I am considering going to Phuket and or Hue Hin for probably a month at each location, does anybody know if I will have any problems in these locations re registration. Are registerations and insurance the same for all of Thailand or is it city to city or?

Best way to transport bike myself and tgf with luggage to Hue Hin from Chaing Mai Thanks to all.

You dont have to do anything as long the Tax and insurance is valid, when time comes to pay new tax you have to go to the Regoffice near you and show them the bike take of the plate and apply for a new one.

So you will be wating for 2 month to get a new plate.

Thanks that answers my question .Has anybody shipped a bike via train.

It might seem obvious but why not spend a couple of days and ride it down to Hua Hin. As long as you are in no rush it could be a nice experience. Ive ridden all around Thailand on bikes from a 100cc honda rust bucket to a 2,300cc Triumph. For me its the only way to travel in this beautiful country. :o

Agree its easy to transfer the bike to a new province. In Khon Kaen, the new plate comes 24 hours later, same happened with 2 bikes transferred.

I agree riding to Hue Hin would be an experience not to be forgotten soon. I have thought about riding there and that may be an option. I do have far more stuff than would fit on a motorbike. Girlfriend large suitcase x 3 . I have ridden lots of miles on motorcycles in the Usa. So maybe I will reconsider that option. Maybe Bus her and ride solo. Thanks again to all

  • 4 weeks later...

You can also mail small motorcycles around LOS

1200 - 1500 baht

Only from (and to) certain post offices...

cheers, Mark
