Annoying Windows Internet Explorer "pop Up"

Featured Replies

I don't know why this has started happening but

when browsing i have started to get a pop up in

the form of a new window.

I have a norton protection and can't find how to

get rid of this annoying glitch.

If any one knows how to get rid of this annoying

glitch i would be greatfull if you could let me know.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the advise and have since found it is a rather

nasty little beasty that has some how attached itself and

causes windows to spawn a new window when surfing the

net.

After doing a little digging i downloaded fire fox, a free download and

certainly seems to have stopped it,but i am not sure if it has got

rid of it.

Thanks again

Paul

Since you have Norton already, I assume its some spyware. Download & run ad-aware and kill it.

There are many ways to get rid of your problem, such as the ones mentioned above. But from my experience there are lots of nasty sites out there, specially targeting IE users with spyware or just plain and simple stupid scripts.

You can get rid of them, but many years ago i switched to Firefox and never looked back.

But as always, don't visit sites you don't know. Sometimes they may look legit, but with just one wrong click and you are back to square one.

If it comes back after closing the browser and clearing internet history and restarting the browser, then check our home page settings and then get familier with all the browser setting about pop up etc.  All browsers will have this problem if not set corractly.  I use Opera which I highly recommend and Firefox which is good, but still you have to know whats turned off and on, allowed and not allowed and set the controls. I often set my home page to ether blank no home page or something like google news page.  I still use ie6 in wine because of three sites I have to use from time to time that will not run in any other browser, but they are the only places I use ie6.  One of the sites is a router which only talks to ie.

The problem in your post is INTERNET EXPLORER !

Why using that piece of shxt code when you could use FIREFOX ?

Go to Windows Update and download an optional update. Doesn't matter which one. This past Tuesday was patch Tuesday and sometimes an installer doesn't completely unload, causing windows to spawn. The best way to deal with it is install something else and then Windows update will uninstall it properly.
