.xls

Featured Replies

When I have completed a spreadsheet I then save it as ".xls".

But when I attach it to an email it is designated ".xlsx".

My operating system is XP Professional.

I assume this is making it impossible for those who receive it to open. At least this is what they tell me.

So if you have any suggestion...I'm obviously doing something wrong!

Please help.

Are you using Office 2007? That is the default extension for Excel 2007. If so, then save it in 2003 format which will be .xls.

Sure it's Office 2007!

I would set the defaults for saving in all of the Office 2007 Programs to save as 97-2003 Documents, Spreadsheet whatever!

Everybody will be able to read the 97-2003 Documents!

The above statement is what's confusing though unless he's renaming the extension from .xlsx to .xls in which case it makes sense why it doesn't work.

One problem many times is that the users submitting the Result of an Failure/Error but NOT the required infos about the system/software/hardware whatever!

It's quite difficult some(many)times to give an answer!
