Need 200gb 7200 Rpm Laptop Hd, Where To Get?

Featured Replies

I need a Hitachi 7K200 or the equivalent model from Seagate - 7200 RPM, 200GB, 2.5" and 9mm high.

I had one but it died and I want to get a replacement. My computer felt about 2x-3x as fast with it.

These are just $200 or less in the USA so they should not run more than about BHT 7 - 8000 here. Local shops seem to have the full range of Western Digital brand drives, but hardly any Seagate or Hitachis. And certainly no high end ones.

The only alternative would be the 320GB/5400 RPM Western Digital whenever it comes out. I saw it on the price list in one of the shops - the shop assistant confirmed for me that it's not shipping yet, but since it's already in the price list it must be shipping soon, and it will sell for an incredibly cheap BHT 6200 or so!

I expect it to be almost as fast as the 7K200 because it's higher density (== faster) and at a similar load rate less full, e..g at 160GB it will be only 50% full. The fuller a HD, the slower it gets because they fill up from the fastest sections to the slowest.

Anyway - does anybody know a shop that sells these in Thailand? In Singapore/HK? tx.
