Bangkok neighborhoods

Featured Replies

Ok friends, I am looking for some good advice on which area of BKK you would recommend for me to hang my hat in.  My criteria are as follows:

Middle-upper class area,  doesn't have to be too close to the center of the city-for example as far out as the airport would be fine,  many farang and expats are not required for me to be comfortable, relatively affordable housing costs for rent or for buying,  not too far from decent shopping.  My criteria are not all that strict and i've had Bang-Na Trad recommended already but I would like to get some of your opinion's on the matter.  Thanks for any input.

After Bangna, you have soi Lasalle (105), soi Baring (107).

Soi 105/107 have changed in the last few years. Soi 107 is no longer a Klong  when it's raining  B)

Someone is selling a house on Soi 105:

Not sure about your budget.

Carrefour and Tesco are not too far on Srinakarin, and the expressway from bangna put you 30 to 45 minutes from the City (Silon/Rama IV) ... no commitment on the timing ::o:

There is a medium wet-market on S105, as well as an outdoor swimming pool.

Not sure about the morning traffic, with the Bangkok Patana school.

 ::D:

The Skytrain will reach there one day ... well ...

I have also read an article stating that another speculation bubble was brewing in BKK that is very similar to the 1997 crash and if that happens, property prices will plummet.  Does anybody know of this further, seen or heard anything?  I am still open to opinion's on area's so keep em' coming.
Some parts of Ari are very nice. Sathorn also, but much more expensive.

Where is exactly is Ari?  I have never heard of it.

Hi Joey,

What do you think of this:

http://www.srinakharindraville.com/

If you tell me what does not meet your expectations

- maybe I can suggest others.

I stayed at Srinakharindraville for a year

and can recommend it - very friendly staff.

Not far from the Huge - The Mall, Bangakapi

and the new Tesco Lotus opposite The Mall.

The Bigger Seacon Square is a bit further,

southwards.

There is Big C & The Mall, Ramkamhaeng.

With the University & its surrounds

It has a Basic Restaurant with Room Service

Near the Expressway entrance to Town.

Please tell me what you think.

They have Promotional Rents at times

- for longer stays

Hey Roger if I am correct in assuming that thoses rates on the website were per month prices, then it would be a very good place to stay for a month or two while we were looking for our home.  It's extremely cheap.  About how far is it from city center?  Thanks for the info.  Keep the suggestions coming please everyone.

Joey,

About 12Km from World Trade Centre

out East along Rama 9

where it meets Srinakharin Road

Which runs N/S from Bangkapi

down past Seacon Square Mall

to Bangna and beyond.

The Apartments are VERY well furnished.

I rented the smaller 2 bedroom suite

- which has 2 ensuite bathrooms

2 TV sets and 3 a/c units

fully fitted kitchen/breakfast bar

(Gas & Electric cooker) & large Fridge.

Shorter Rentals are Bht 1,000 extra per month

so two months might be Bht 16,000 per month

or if they have more vacant suites

maybe they will agree to Bht 15,000

It is in walking distance of Hua Mak

Railway Station.

The Mall, Bangkapi has all the usual

Restaurant Chains.

Please let me know if you take a look and what you think.

Roger
