I am a bit bewildered and finding it hard to get a simple answer to this question, so I will turn to ThaiVisa members.

My Thai mate is a 30yo university educated male, who works in a Bangkok Government department.

He would like to come to Australia and do an English course.

I started with the Department of Immigration's website and got as far as this link, ELICOS Sector: Temporary Visa (Subclass 570) - Assessment Level 2.

There is a number of courses available at the local TAFE.

Questions:

1. Where to start?

2. Should we use a Migration Agent in Bangkok or locally in Australia - or can we do this on our own?

3. Does he need to pass an English Test in Thailand before he is accepted for the course in Australia?

4. He will be living with me and I will be supporting him in Australia. Do I really need to show $AUD14,000 in bank deposits to support him?

5. He was knocked back for a 2 week Tourist Visa earlier this year. Will this weigh heavily against him if he applies for this Visa?

Peter...

As you know I have advised you before on your previous partners visa....and your current partners visa application.

The refusal will weigh heavily....it was recorded and they will see this as you trying to circumnavigate the process.

I didnt see where financial sponsorhip by a friend was acceptable

He will probably be required to sit an English test

He will need to be enrolled before applying

Personally I believe that the application would be doomed to fail.

You need to sit back and cool it....spend more time establishing the relationship before trying to apply for any sort of visa.

Not what you wanted to hear but probably the best advice I can give...if anyone has better advice then by all means let Peter know.
