After his dramatic departure from McLaren, Fernando Alonso has not yet disclosed his plans for the next season. What do you think, where will he end up? Or will he take a sabbatical and return in 2009?

I used to like and admire Alonso until he moved to Maclaren. As soon as he got there he started to do a Schuey. Demanding to be given preferential treatment by the team. When he was then faced with being shown how to drive by a rookie team mate it just got worse. For me there should not be a number 1 and 2 driver in any team. Nobody could say Shuemaker was the best driver. He had the best car for along time but the guy with any chance of beating him was NEVER allowed to race him. The same as is now happening again at Ferrari this time with Raikkenen. I forget the race, but about 4 from the end with Massa leading he was brought into the pits for an un needed splash and dash therefore letting Raikkenen pass and win. For me Massa has done a better job at Ferrari than his team mate. I also believe that if it was Maclaren who had been using illegal fue in the last race and Hailton had won. Those points would have been deducted and the team penalised. As it was they let things stand. I dont think they wanted a rookie to win on his first outing. Roll on next year when we will again see Hamilton showing Alonso how to drive!!!!!! :o

Further to the above. I have just read that Renault have been found guilty of being possesion of material belonging to Maclaren. The FIA have decided to take no action?WHAT!!!! Max Mosely says he's happy with the outcome of the investigatio. This is the same man who stated he wanted both Alonso and Hamilton banned from the 2007 season for Maclaren being guilty of the same charge.Flavio Briatorre also says he's happy to put this troublesome time behind him. Again This is the same guy who could not understand why the whole team was not diqualified from the 2007 season. The FI have said they will release the full reasons in the next few days as to why they have not dealt with Rnault in the same draconian way as with Maclaren. To me the whole thing stinks of corruption!

One can discuss endlessly who is the best driver. There is no objective measurement for this; car, time, circumstances always allow the "yes, but...". I guess we can say Micheal Schumacher was the most successful driver with 7 titles. He was certainly among the best, you don't win 7 titles by accident.

It was great fun to see the young Lewis Hamilton beat the crap out of the 2 times champion Alonso, but LH is a rookie and makes mistakes and is entitled to do so. In China he threw it all away by first listening to his team to stay out when he should have come in and change tires, and by going too fast into the corner into the pit. This combined with incredible luck for Kimi Raikkönen and you see the title fly away. Kimi is a worthy champion 2007, he won the most races (6) whereas FA and LH won 4 and FM 3.

Alonso drove a few fantastic races, he is still one of the best active drivers, but his behavior outside the car made him loose many fans. Too bad for him, he can only choose the third or fourth best team for next season and kiss his title for 2008 Good Bye. Is this enough for him to quit, at least for a year?

Alonso is such a prat. I used to like him when he was previously at Renult. Lets hope LH can re-focus and do it in 2008.

It should be another action packed season!

If they don't give him a competative car I can see him spitting his dummy out the pram not too far into the new season.
