Any interest in forming a Chiang Mai Chess Club? We've had some success in the past, but seem to have lost the two people most involved in organizing meetings.

Surely there are more than two chess players in Chiang Mai! It's an international game, the only English you have to know is "check" and "check, mate!"

I'm not a good enough player to even consider this - I get beaten regularly by "Sally" on the Chessmaster CD games.

OP, what are your thoughts? I know I would like to join (but very much a novice).

i had played a few time , but would love to play it more ,

if there is a club i won't mind dropping down to let you guy have a few kill .

i do enjoy chess but do not know all the rule yet

I didn't realize this thread was still active. Yes, we have a chess club in Chiang Mai now. We've been meeting at The Pub on Huay Kaew continuously for nearly two years now. We meet on Wednesdays, starting at 7:00 pm.

If you need boards, sets, or clocks, we have access through one of our members. We also have books, lectures, and software, if you would like to improve your play. We have several strong players, but we also have some people that are just starting out, so it's easy to find someone at your level. And, of course, we're always eager to meet new people! So, stop by any Wednesday, and say hello.
