Advice Needed Travelling From South Bus Station ( Pin Klao ) To Survanabhumi Airport

Hi All,

I have to check in at midnight on the 24th Dec at Survanabhumi airport for my flight at 2.30a.m. on the 25th Dec. I have to travel from Petchaburi and will arrive at south bus station in Pin klao. ( Apparently there is supposed to be a new bus station there somewhere. ) Does anyone know if there is a bus service from Pin klao to the new airport ? ( I have never used this airport before. ) How much would a taxi cost ? How much time should I allow for travel ? I have been told that there might be a lot of traffic in or around Bangkok tomorrow because of the election and people returning to work, would this be the case ?

Thank you for any advice

Have a good Xmas and happy new year

yes, the new bus terminal between puthamonton sai 1 and wong wan rob nok (western outer ring road). There is a private bus (after the cancellation of 556 city bus) going directly to the airport for 40 baht but I would think it stops running around 10pm. Check with the station information.

the taxi would take no more than 35 minutes in the light traffic (tell the driver to go straith by Wongwan Rob Nok, through Samut Phrakan to the airport - no freeway/motorway toll). Would cost 230 baht.

Many taxi drivers are not aware that wongwan rob nok was opened over a month ago from the west side to the east side by the suspended bridge and would go the longer way - would cost 290baht + 65 baht toll, through some slow roads and with a larger risk of traffic jams, would take 1h+.

LThai lives near there and thus knows the ropes. for QUICK transp. certainly the best. However: DO BE aware that sai tai always was NOTOrious for taximeters=maffia NOT doing it by meter. Also there IS an official 20 bt surcharge for dep. from all busterminals. Try to leave the bus, with all the Thai, BEFORE it goes over the viaduct into SaiThai and hire a taxi from there- in that case the taxi must turn back to reach the outer ring road! and if you dont speak any thai, it may be hard to tell him about this new connectional road.

IF your bus INTO BKK comes from the FAR south, even only HHin/ChaAm (ad all points furhter south) it ALSO makes a stop at the SOUTH end of Thomburi, where the highway from There joins into BKK's ring road (a kind of spaghetti junction now, sorry, dont know the name). get off THERE and there will be taxis waiting=this saves then some 12/15 kms going in+out same way! and THERE the taxi's are more likely to know about the new ringrd south.

there is NO private bus, but its a minivan, NGV, also nr 556, that seems to run about hourly (at the full hr.) and it cost 70 bt. from Sai Thai. they lve LEFTside if facing the new building, behind some foodstalls/taxis. the full trip takes some 75/80 mins and goes via town/Sanam Luang-then Motorway. But he wait till it goes may take long!
