A Few Queries

Hi

I'm wondering if anyone can advise me on these two totally unrelated topics:

a: Do you know of a device that can work both as an external DVD writer (USB) and portable DVD player (i.e. can connect ot TV with AVI output.

b: Do you know the recommended attribute settings for folders on a UNIX server. e.g. my folder .cpanel is 755 and access-logs is 777. I've been searching for some advice on what these settings should be but drawn a blank. It never bothered me before (I know very little about UNIX) but recently someone's been changing my home page index.html. I contacted my hosting company and they just said to change my password. I did that but was wondering if these file permissions were correct.

TIA

Did you get my PM? That bit of kit is well worth buying. Very versatile. Can even use it as a diskman though you don't see much of those these days.

I haven't used the webmaster myself but I've heard good things. Should sort out the server problems.

Regards

Hey thanks for that. Picked one up at Panthip yesterday. I wanted an external DVD drive for my new Asus Eee and thought why not get one which connects to a TV too. Come in handy in all those hotel rooms.

As for the server business, I think the cause was a worm or a script because all the index.html files (about 20 of them in various subdomains and directories) had had some javascript inserted, and the date and time of the files were all too close for anyone to have been able to do it manually.
