The Honorary Advisers Of Pattaya People Weekly

I never ever buy any of the local English language newspapers, including the multi-language Pattaya People Weekly. However, for want of somthing better to do whilst I was waiting for someone, I picked up the most recent edition (Issue 115) of the said Pattaya People Weekly from a pile of newspapers lying near to me. What a farcical and absurd accumulation of journalistic nonsense it turmed out to be!

What caught my eye was an article on page 5, entitled "VENDOR MAFIA". I won't bother to give details of the story but it was reported in the article that one alleged victim of this 'terrorism' said " ......the police do absolutely nothing". Another victim said, when asked if he had informed the police, "......are you serious, it's a Thai versus farang situation? The police will not help." I thought that this couldn't possibly be true of our local peelers. :o

Then, scanning around the same page I saw, at the top of the page, a list of Honary Advisers. Who should be included in this list of Honorary Advisers but:

Pol. Col. Nopadol Wongnorm

Pol. Col. Ittipol Ittisarnronnachai

Pol. Lt. Col. Suwan Ouanan

Pol. Lt. Col. Jittaporn Thongcumvun

and, not forgetting the Right Hon. Godfather of Chonburi, His Wiliness Khun Somchai Khunpleum himself :D . I mean, this has got to be wind up; a mickey-take. The slogan of the paper is "We dare when others keep silent". OK. let's dare them to do their jobs and ask these particular Honourary Advisers to do something about it for once and all.........forget about Khamnan Po as "he's shot the crow" unless he's selling burgers and hot dogs in Copenhagen for the CEO!!

What a waste of trees!!!

Edit: Spelling of names not surprisingly!!!

Most, if not all, of the Pattaya papers and the Pattaya Daily News website often sensationalize the stories with little regard to facts. They even approach slander at times, especially when the person died. No worries about a law suit from the dead guy. It certainly makes for much more interesting reading. They read like a London or New York gossip tabloid, not a real newspaper or real news website.

They are not the world's best, but the Bangkok Post and Nation might be a start for the Pattaya news people to learn from.
