Can anyone tell me if Penang, KL, or Singapore can do a tourist visa in 1 day over the counter and fly back same day or will I have to stay a day or 2? And can Hull in UK issue non O visas for non brits? Thanks

Not aware of any 'fast track' for visa applications at local consulates, next day pickup is the norm. :o

Yes, Hull will issue to non-Brits, but give them a bell/mail to be sure they can handle your nationality before commiting you passport to the post :D

EDIT It may be an idea to PM the OP of this thread http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=162683 seems he got an 'expedited' TV in Vientiane :D

Unless you have two passports, or you are in your home country, you are going to have to have a passport most anywhere to be legal.

Thanks Crossy, Also, does that mean I could stay in a near country and post to Hull and have passport returned to that country?

Now there's a question that comes up with some regularity.

The general opinion is that it's not permitted as you are supposed to be within the jurisdiction of the issuing consulate. That said, asuming you have someone in the UK who can send the PP to Hull and receive it back before sending to you then it may work (others have said it does), I don't think the consulate will post to an overseas address.

BUT

Do you really want to be in an Asian country for several days with no passport and with the possibility of it not making it back through the postal system?

And then there is the possibility of the immigration chap noticing that you weren't in the UK when the visa was issued and cancelling it? An instance of this was posted here last year sometime, although in that case the poster had been in Thailand when the visa was issued, very naughty.

Thanks again, Crossy and lopburi3, Hmm yes.........Looks like a good time to visit UK perhaps.

it is a bit chilly there right now. Go to Australia. :o

And days are currently longer in Ozland too...

Incidentally, what Dr_Pat_Pong's suggests is precisely what I was planning to do in order to get a new 1 year non-O (my current one is due to renewal). Unfortunately, it looks like Thai consulates in Australia (at least, those I have contacted) are less friendly than Hull as for issuing non-O's (to those like me who are less than 50 years old and not married to a Thai national :D ).

I went with my Thai boyfriend for my TV, and I guess he used his 'ajarn influence' as a university lecturer to get my TV in one day~

The consular official did say that it would depend on how many applications she received, but she was very nice..

Might try taking a thai with you?555+
