Probably a "pipe dream" but does anybody know where, in Thailand, I might be able to get the above camera and a Metz 45CT serviced?

Thanks for your responses

You wouldn't want to have your Hasselblad serviced by anyone other than the authorized distributor would you? :o

And all it took was googling to find out who that is.

As to Metz I don't remember having seen it sold in Thailand so I assume they don't have any representation here but you might want to google to find that out too. BTW I've seen Metz flash being assembled in Japan at a factory in Tokyo many years ago (which had me wondered their "made in Germany" country of origin legitimacy).

As a final note on this thread; I emailed Khun Panlalit during office closure and received her response at 8.00 a.m. this morning!

She was so helpful, well informed and spoke perfect English.

It seems they are indeed the main Hasselblad outlet in Thailand although all servicing and repairs are conducted via their Hong Kong connection.

She added that the following procedures were adapted:

a) They camera is stripped and initially evaluated in Thailand

:o Any repairs or replacements detected are photographed and submitted to HK

c) HK appraise the situation, estimate cost and time

d) Upon agreement with the customer, the camera is then shipped

All this happens on day 1 !!!!!!!!!

We read so much about the indifferent service attitude in Thailand that I thought this Company needed exposure (excuse the pun)

Amazing service should you ever need it.

You might check with the AV Shop in Chiang Mai. He's an independent located in an area not normally frequented by foreigners. They are strictly a repair shop. They repaired a broken aperture ring one of my analog cameras. The job required required substantial dismantling. It was returned in perfect working order. The owner doesn't speak much English though so if you don't speak Thai you will need a translator. His phone is 053-280940 or mobile 066540277. His name if my phonetic spelling is correct is Vichieng.
