Beach Road Weekend Closure To Vehicles

Featured Replies

Did the Beach Rd closure/2nd Road 2 way traffic scheme go ahead at the weekend? When I first heard of this I checked my calender to make sure it wasn't April.

I've been waiting for this. I seem to remember, or was it an alcoholic induced hallucination, that there was a lot of traffic on Beach Road this past Friday.

Come on Gov' make up your mind!

Yes there was begs, it wasn't just the booze. There was a whole other thread on this, I think after the backlash city hall received from just about everyone, they 'decided to postpone the idea'. I was quite looking forward to watching the carnage on 2nd road, which was supposed to become 2 way at weekends.

No, it's been 'postponed'.

Postponed = Climbdown without loosing face :o

At least they acknowledge a problem, they badly need to cull the amount of traffic, maybe they should have some traffic cops with the power to seize unroadworthy vehicles and scrap them, that should get ride of 50% of the baht busses...

I headed off down Pattaya Nua with the intent to turn left onto Second Road at the Dolphin Roundabout and was surprised to find that it was still not allowed.

I'm glad though as I didn't fancy the chaos that would have been if they had gone ahead.

Any idea when it is 'postponed' to?

April 1st where it belonged from the outset. They just haven't set the year yet but probably around the beginning of the next millenium, round about when they start to demolish the illegal buildings along Walking Street.
