Dear Moderators,

I just want to inform you about a mistake on your website. You say

"A tourist visa is valid for 60 days".

Source: http://www.thaivisa.com/272.0.html

This is not true, as it depends on the country. Certain countries get only 30 days if they enter the kingdom (e.g. Romania).

Please correct this mistake, as many people rely on your information here and get misled (so did we and got in big trouble with our travel planning!).

Thanks.

Actually, Buman, the information you quote is wrong in a different way than what you postulate.

A single-entry tourist visa is usually valid for 90 days or 3 months, depending on the consulate. A tourist visa valid for more than one entry is usually valid for 180 days or 6 months, again depending on the consulate.

As an example I show below a copy of the single-entry tourist visa I had last year:

post-21260-1200503046_thumb.jpg

Date issued: 08 OCT 2007

Must be utilized before: 05 JAN 2008

Period of validity = 90 days

The 60 and 30 days you mention is not the validity of the visa but the period of permission to stay granted upon arrival in Thailand with a tourist visa.

Webmaster, please take note.

The information given on the quoted web page is confusing.

"Most western countries does not need a Tourist visa."

This statement would be better clarified by adding "for stays of less than 30 days". Explaining the 90 days per 6 months may be a little difficult here but could be included as a footnote.

"The validity of a visa is three months. That means that you must utilize your visa within 30 days."

Surely this is incorrect. I believe the visa may be utilised at any time during it's validity, i.e. within the dates detailed. When entering the Kingdom the holder then receives permission to stay for 60 days which may possibly be extended for a further 30 days after which time the holder must have left the Kingdom.

Perhaps Lopburi could add some assistance here.

The website has been updated.

"The validity of a visa is three months. That means that you must utilize your visa within 30 days."

This was a typo and was corrected at the same time. (also added extra info regarding validity of six months)

"Most western countries do not need a Tourist visa."

Agreed that this is not to clear, and has now been updated with better information.
