Before deciding (finding out) where to go in Chiang Mai I would to require some understanding on the follwing:

Approximately 1 1/2 years ago one of my staff didn't feel well and went to a local injection distributor (can't call it better than that). Shortly after she went worse and went back. More med's.

Then she started to have pain in her leg, to another doctor other med's. The pain became worse, again another doctor and other med's. In one month time she switched about 5 doctors and 5 different cures, that all was stopped when starting with the next cure. She only got worse and worse, couldn't walk anymore, and her eyes got involved to such an extent that she started to become blind.

Finally they went to The McCormick hospital where they told her that most probably the first injection gave an infection which went unnoticed by 5 different doctors and that became huge over the month (my other staff keeps on mentioning a nerve, but I don't really undestand what she is talking about). She was hospitalized for 20 days as a result. I do believe they saved her life.

Although the infection is gone and she can do pretty much everything again, she still has problems with her eyes. One seems to be fairly ok, but the other one is on the edge of becoming blind. befoer the whole thing started she had no problems with her eyes. Since her release from the hospital she is under treatment for both eyes.

From this little information, can anybody give me some more inside in what has been/is the possible cause (how does an infection on her hip or the overdose of different meds can cause her eyes to go blind) and actually how to go further. I assume she needs to go to real eye specialist, and that is the next step I want to make; finding out where a good eye specialist is in CM. If anyone knows, please, let me know. Also my other staff is complaining about her eyes and recurrent head aches. So also she needs to go to a specialist for a good check-up.

Nioenke,

Starting with the easier case:

The staff person with headaches and eye trouble needs to (1) get her blood pressure checked and get on treatment if it is high; (2) if it is not her BP, could be allergy/sinus (rather depends on what type of "trouble with eyes"...if burning or red, allergy likely) and (3) if not BP and allergy better see a neurologist.

Now as for the other one, it is a bizarre story with too many missing details to even guess what it was that happened. What is of priority at this stage is to get (1) a thorough physical examinatiion if she has not recently had one (be sure to rule out diabetes) and then see an opthmalagist. Could be a primary eye disorder or secondary to some other systemic disease.

Good luck to them both

Sheryl,

Thanks so much for your response.

The one with the troubled eyes and head ache seems to have too much fat deposit ??? (gkai man in Thai) in the eyes.

Yeh and the case with the infection etc. is just too much for words. And sure enough many details are missing. The whole conversation with my staff goes in Thai, so that makes even more that I miss details.

Anyway, I'm going to talk with my staff tomorrow, tell them your response and I try to convince them that a thorough check-up at another hospital is highly needed.

Thanks again,

Nienke
