Reading this forum over the last few months has been an eye opener at times with the techniques the members use.

Some are obvious but maybe we've forgotten them in the passage of time; others are totally innovative.

I wonder if it might be an idea to exchange some "tricks" for each and all to benefit?

OK, here's one from me.

How many times has your wife/GF/model turned her nose up at your best portrait shot? To you it's superbly lit, well exposed, great composition, but.......!

Well, here's a "trick" I was introduced to many years ago:

Women spend most of their lives looking in the mirror.

As such the ONLY time they see themselves "true" is through a photograph.

This image is then rejected because it's not what they normally see.

ANSWER - reverse the image to project the mirror they are accustomed to - bingo!

p.s make sure there are no irreversible letterings/motives/watches in the shot.

MOODY BLUE EFFECT

I picked this up on Dave Blacks photography BLOG.

(1)Underexpose background about 2 stops.

(2) Set white balance to cool, about 2,800k.

(3)Add a warm gel filter to flash.

(4)Bump up flash compensation 1 or two stops.
