Definitely do not use London. Use any of the many honorary consulates, of which Birmingham is one. Hull has a reputation for excellent service. You know probably that you can apply by mail to any of these consulates. Best give the consulate of your choice a call first to make sure that you enclose everything they need.

On second thought, I remember that one of the consulates has been mentioned as no longer doing the multiple-entry non-O visa “to visit friends” but I cant remember which one, perhaps it was Birmingham. Hull still does.

Hull will go through everything via email even to the point of dotting the "i's" and crossing the "t's". I cannot recommend them highly enough. You can offer various reasons for applying and they will give totally honest answers and then you pick one.

Pretty sure it was Liverpool that stopped (or never started) doing 'visit friends' visas :o

I have always used B'ham and everytime have received my passport back and stamped within a week. I wouldn't trust London personally because (probably) the large amount of applications that they must recieve.

Only the consulates will handle postal applications. London do not accept postal applications

If the OP has a Thai child and he is named as the father then he should show the child's birth certificate and getting a Multi entry Non Imm O shouldn't be a problem anywhere

I emailed Hull one month ago, plus a couple of weeks ago, never got one single reply to my questions re a non-imm B. Phones were always busy too. Anyway, carried on regardless with plan-b, just got my passport back (returned next day!) with a lovely new sparkley 1 yr non-imm "O" multi entry "visiting friends" stamp - lubbely jubbely :o
