Public Holidays, Is The Tv List Accurate?

Featured Replies

Just checking the list of public holidays on TV General Forum.

I'm interested in whether employees are legally obliged to give all these holidays. For example it list Chinese New Year holidays for 7th and 9th of Feb. I didn't notice banks being closed, not sure on govt. offices though.

What days do other employers give off?

Hotel industry = 14 days (give or take).

After a year that may increase. It is less than likely that an employee will be able to get their preferred dates for leave unless it also suits their employer.

It's little wonder some nationalities think they've scored the jackpot when they get a Public Service position in Australia... 5 weeks annual leave, 10 days sick leave, 3 days bereavement leave, 11 or 12 public holidays, 36-38 hour week, maternity/paternity leave, banked time, overtime, shift loading 25% - 29%. 12 hour shifts here, so 3 day weeks.

A good deal of hotel employee's in Thailand work 6 day weeks, 9 hour days (plus unpaid overtime more often than not).

What a bloody joy it must be to own a hotel chain, with assets in Thailand.

Edit: forgot to mention the 12 weeks on full pay, sabbatical accumulated each 10 years.

So the TV list is wrong? It lists 18 days. Would be interested to hear from others.
