Hi all,

I will go at the end of next month for my annual visit to my family back to UK.

I was thinking to bring my GF with me for a couple of weeks also

I've been living in Bangkok for 2 years and been together with my GF from about 12 months.

My GF just graduated and she's financially ok, the mother can easily sponsor her the trip to Uk as i'm living out of some family property rent and using a British passport (i have double citizen) which can only prove that i was in Thailand for the last year or so.

Is it worth in my situation try to get a visa and normally how difficult it is to get a shorter visa like that?

Which is the best solution, try to help her and be the sponsor or let her try with her mother?

one more solution:

Her cousin is currently studying in London and she can perhaps pretend to visit him, is that could be easier?

Thanks all in advance

There's no reason why your girlfriend should not present herself as accompanying you to the UK on holiday. Whoever is paying for the trip can then provide evidence of their ability to do so. The visa officer would also expect to see evidence of your relationship and, if possible, evidence of your intention to return to Thailand with her.

Thanks for your quick reply,

the problem is that we can't really prove evidence of us returning in Thailand, can a new ticket bought for me (I'm using my return ticket now) and the contract of a condo bought (but ready next year) under my name be enough?

But she personally not working or studying at the moment, can that be a problem (although can afford a stay in London)?

Certainly evidence that you're buying a condo helps to demonstrate that you intend returning to Thailand, as will evidence of any land ownership in relation to your girlfriend. If your current accommodation is rented, provide the tenancy agreement as this might show you to be committed to renting the place until a date after your intended return to Thailand, and this committment is evidence that you intend to return: after all, you wouldn't take on a tenancy for substantially longer then needed.

Thanks again,

the 1 year contract place i'm currently renting is due at the end of April, exaclty when I'll be in London, not too sure at the moment if to find a new place or to extend the current one (in that case I have to sign another year contract), i was thinking to sort it out the problem once i was back.

Is that can still used? (in any case i can postponed by a month or 2 if i decide to leave and get a new short term contract from my building manager if necessary).

It's not a requirement for you to have a rental contract in place when your girlfriend applies for her visa: it's just something that might help demonstrate your, and by association her, intention to return to Thailand. Ultimately, you can only work with the circumstances as they are at the time she applies for the visa.
