Apartment Near Victory Monument

Hi,

We are two students who are going on exchange to College of Management Mahidol University. We are staying in Bangkok for 4 months 1. September - 1 January and are therefore looking for an apartment. CMMU is located at 9 Vipawadee Rangsit Rd., Phayathai, Bangkok 10400 - which is fairly close to the Victory Monument area. We are looking for an apartment to share during our stay around this area. Our budget is 15000-25000 Bath a month and we are interested in a place with facilities such as swimmingpool, rooftop garden, bar/restaurant and internet.

Do you have any suggestions of a place to stay or where to look?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Novel Place (www.novelplace.com) used to be ok a few years ago, I havent seen it recently, but it has swimming Pool and garden on the top floor.

There are plenty of buildings round about Phaholyothin Soi 7 and Soi Aree Samphan which is the continuation of Phaholyothin Soi 5.

Close to BTS Aree.

Swimming pool is probably 20 meters long,,,,,never crowded....

There is no gym, but there are gyms in the area...

Thank you all for your input. :o

I also found The Victory (www.the-victory.com) on the internet as it was recommended by Mahidol University, does anyone have experience with this place?

How is the Victory Monument area to live in? are there plenty of restaurants and bars or do I need to head down to the Sukomwit area?

Ratchaprarop tower mansion is very nearby, I dont recall which soi, has swimming pool, rooftop, bar, not sure on internet. 6000+ rooms up to 35 000 I think. Worth checking out if you are in the area, lived there myself and had no problems. 24 hour food to room service. ok western food. Also all night disco with plenty of dodgy characters nearby, but not near enough to be a bother. :o

Victory is also very close....about 3 blocks from VP Tower...Victory was getting a little worn out, but they have been doing a lot of renovation...As to cafes, etc...Soi RangNam is full of this and Sukhumvit is only 10 minutes on the SkyTrain - 6 stops...

The Victory is next to my office. They've renovated so it should be reasonably good. The area is pretty good for eating, not really a big bar scene but that's always a short hop away on the Skytrain.

Sukhumvit will cost you a lot more.

Was also recommended to have a look at Boss Tower (www.bosstower.com), which is located in Sukhumwit. Guess I could do the skytrain to Uni, and then have the bar area close by :o . Does anyone have any experience with this place?

Thanks!

Boss Tower is on Rama IV - nowhere near the skytrain.

Doesn't seem to bad on the map they provide on their web site, but what do I know..anyways suppose the fair distance is the reason that prices are fairly decent at Boss tower as it looks quite nice. But is defiently worth paying a bit more and avoid spending hours everyday travelling.-

As you probably know, most private maps aren't exactly accurate :o Boss is ok but it is just plain inconvenient. The walk up Soi 38 will be 15 minutes minimum. By way of comparison, the Victory is a 2 minute walk, the VP perhaps 5 minutes.

nikolai,

I would try my best to minimise transport for daily needs (to Uni) - you won't have a problem to find a bar anywhere in BKK trust me, but if you wanna study prolly best you don't stay next to one!

Rangnam, Victory, Ari areas mentioned is very nice - actually my favorite in BKK, but lately I've relocated out in the burbs to enjoy & relax LOL.

The Victory is a bit overpriced & no pool I think, so VP or the others mentioned I'd check out.

Or you could stay at lower sukhumvit 6miles of whores & foreigners if that's what you fancy :o

Up to you

You are probably right, VP tower does look good. Will probably stay there or just around that area, really looking forward to my trip and have just been doing a bit of day dreaming when seeking information about flats etc.

Thank you all for your inputs!
